So, What R/C Did You Run Today?

I ran a couple of batteries through the Rlaarlo XTS-S10 sure-looks-like-a-Subaru rally car.

I tried out a new CNHL "Black" series 3S 2200mah shorty pack (I just bought a pair of them), and was looking forward to comparing it to the Rlaarlo 3S 2200mah pack that came with the car. The CNHL LiPOs usually do pretty well in testing I've seen.

Well, it seemed the car was a bit faster with the CNHL, but it didn't run as long. I didn't measure the run time but it was noticeably shorter. When I got home and put the batteries on the charger, both at 1C charge rate, I was surprised to see the CNHL battery had one cell at 3V and the other two at 3.2V. The Rlaarlo was at 3.4V to 3.5V on all three cells.

The CNHL battery was done charging very quickly. I forgot to read the mah that had been put in, but it must have been a lot less than the Rlaarlo took, as the Rlaarlo is still charging now! Wait.. It just beeped... the Rlaarlo took 1320mah to get back to storage charge.

So far, I'm not impressed with the CNHL battery. I guess it could improve a bit after that initial drain/charge cycle, but I'm thinking they won't be as good as the Rlaarlo.

Maybe I was wrong... or maybe the CNHL battery came to life after that first cycle? Today, while an unusual March thunderstorm was happening outside, I did a little experiment with the Rlaarlo and CNHL 3S 2200mah batteries.

I put them on the charger and brought them up from storage charge (3.8V) to full charge. The Rlaarlo battery took 693mah to do so. The CNHL took 1545mah!
Then, I dropped them both back to storage. The Rlaarlo gave up 699mah and the CNHL gave up 1080mah.

Also, the three cells of the CNHL averaged right at 9 m-ohms internal resistance while the Rlaarlo's cells averaged 16.

These results would lead me to believe the CNHL Black 40C LiPO is clearly the superior of the two, as I had hoped when I ordered them.

I got to run my XO-1 today and i also got to test out my iXSR+ with the GNSS GPS app it works okay a little laggy at times but it works. I got 57Mph on my XO-1 down my street on 6s with it's current gearing of 16p\46s also running in some wind.

Oldest son dropped by with his latest snag. They are surprisingly quick and got a bit more than 20 minutes run time on their initial charge. A fun little beast for $45

I finally got out with the Origin Classic build. We had some unusual March thunderstorms and heavy rain that washed away the snow. New snow forecasted for tomorrow tonight. 🙁

I was really impressed with its ability! The turning circle is super-tight and the Vanquish Falken Wild Peak M/T Red Compound tires grip really well. The approach and departure angles are very nice. The Hobbywing 2-in-1 Quicrun Pro can S-L-O-W the crawl when necessary. I'm really pleased with this rig! :):thumbs-up: (And entered her in the Rig of the Month contest!)

Another run day with my Arrma Vendetta this time a GPS speedrun and it did 55mph running my good ZEEE battery also did some street bashing after wards. I plan to replace the stock esc soon with a Firma 120a black edition and replace the stock plastic diffs with the steel 4s diffs also maybe get some new tires.

I ran the Origin Classic again today. It does a nice job in the woods and on the rock. I ran the H10 Optic yesterday and it seemed like I got high-centered a whole lot more often than with the Origin Classic. (I put 4.75" tires on the Optic, preferring the more "scale" look and I know that doesn't help with the high-centering.) The Origin Classic is a pleasure to run.

The one thing I'd like to improve with the Origin Classic is the handling when trail running. It can move pretty fast but, when doing so, it's half out of control due to it being really bouncy. I guess the thing to try would be higher viscosity shock oil. It has the Vanquish-supplied shock oil that came with the kit. 30wt? 35wt?

Does 40wt or 50wt sound like a reasonable thing to try?

Sounds reasonable to me. 😎👍

Took out the Axial SCX6 today, I am running out of places to play. New warning signs at one of my favorite spots.

I wonder what the trespassing legality is, if you were beyond the "no trespassing" area while your rc was within it? 🤔

Technically your infront of the sign. And if they grab your scx6 that's technically stealing. 🫠🙃🫡🤔
