So, What R/C Did You Run Today?

I REALLY wanted to run my new Rlaarlo XTS-S10 today. It got up to 45˚ but my driveway is still covered with a layer of slushy snow, rock salt and sand and I couldn't bear to run that pretty rally car in that mess. I was hoping Spring was getting close, but tomorrow night is supposed to be -5˚. 🥶

Isn't that a wet dream for a rally car? 😝🤪

More snow last night. 🙁

I gave it a try, but it was a bit too deep. Now she's in the bathtub, drying out.

Ran both buggies, pro4 and rustler yesterday. Broke the pro4, same arm I broke 1 year ago, time for RPM. Lol.
Ran slash and rustler today

Went out to a secret speed run location with the slash today to run it on 3s and I got it up to 55, and blew a tire. And I just fixed it up with gorilla glue and I'll just run it on the front.

I brought it down to the local boat launch today. The paved parking lot is plowed (access for ice fishermen) and in the open, where the strong February sun can melt away the snow even if the temps are a bit below freezing. It was 0˚ here this morning but it quickly rose up into the high twenties when the sun got up high.

Holy cow... this thing rips! It accelerates like a missile and the 35+MPH top speed is enough for me for now. It seemed plenty fast in that big, open, smooth parking lot, so it should be more than enough on dirt. I'll keep the speed pinion that was included with the car in my spare parts tub for future consideration.

The gyro is pretty sensitive and the car steering will start to hunt with the gyro set at 3 out of 5 or higher. Out of the box, the front end looked a little off and I removed some of the toe out when evening things up, knowing I'd be running on pavement until the snow melts. It may need it back to be more stable. I gave the turnbuckles half turn each and will see if that changes things next trip.

Funny thing about the gyro... the car's turning circle is reduced quite a bit when the gyro is enabled. I guess they assume you're just going to gas it and drift the turns. 😀

This car's Subaru World Rally Blue style paint is beautiful. It is a very good looking model that looks even nicer out in the sun. I'm pleased.

Took the SCX6 Honcho out for about 20 minutes today. It felt good to get out, was a spur of the moment thing. :)

No pics because I didn't have my phone on me, but I am going to take it out again tomorrow. I realized I haven't used any of my big crawlers in over five months, can't even remember last time I took them out. :(

Brought my new XTS-S10 Rlaarlo not-a-Subaru WRX rally car to a buddy's house to show it to him. I did a poor job of full-throttle driving on the narrow stretch of pavement in front of his house and cartwheeled up over a snowbank and bounced off a storage shed (thank goodness, or it might have went in the lake).

I managed to bust one of the headlight assemblies out of the Lexan body. It broke part of the polystyrene headlight assembly bracket off. Just a flesh wound. :joyful: It's been repaired with medium CA glue and then gusseted with good ol' J.B.Weld. She'll be ready to reassemble in the morning.

Edit 03/09/26 to add: She's all fixed up and ready to go again. :)

This morning i got out with my Slash 4x4 Ultimate to test out my iXSR+ after the steering spring swap i did last night. It feels quite a bit better and a bit more precise i also tightened the throttle spring as well and now i'm liking my radio even more.
