So, What R/C Did You Run Today?

I ran the Origin Classic around the back yard for a bit. I drained the shock oil that came with the kit (30wt?) from the shocks and replaced it with some 45wt (575cst) oil in an attempt to decrease some of the rig's bounciness when running at higher trail speeds. It seemed to have helped.

I really enjoy this model. :)

I ran this brand new bad boy for the first time today. I removed the stock decals in preparation for a custom livery.

Today i went out into my backyard and froze my face off for 10 - 15 minutes running my Slash 4x4 Ultimate but i had fun. Although running it on 3s was a bit too much for our backyard but it was too cold for granny to go out so i made do with our backyard.

Nice patio!

A quick run with the Rlaarlo XTS-F10 in the driveway and yard to test the mesh chassis guard. I used just the Rlaarlo guard's mesh top, attached with some heavy duty Velcro attached the sides of the chassis.

The design of Rlaarlo's chassis guard (an accessory item) is poor as it comes out of the package. It is a "wrap-around" design with a smooth fabric covering the bottom of the chassis, wrapping around to a mesh top covering the top of the chassis. In stock form, the bottom of the guard gets quickly destroyed from ground contact. Attaching some Velcro to the chassis sides eliminates the need for the bottom half of the Rlaarlo cover.

It worked great keeping stuff out of the chassis. The inside of the body got nicely covered with gunk, though. Not a big problem... I added a cordless blower and a cleaning brush to the go-bag to quickly clean out the body.

The car has vicious acceleration. It is WAY too quick to run in the driveway It needs some space! I love it.

I had to get my Wendigo out, I think I'm gonna' name it Class Clown.
It's a grin to drive. It has an identity crisis. No diffs like a crawler, huge tires like a mudder, 3s brushless and geared like a short course. Fast as heck but unpredictable. Basher? Monster truck? Desert racer? I laughed my butt off for 30 minutes straight!

I took the Origin Classic for a trail hike in the hills above Lake George, NY this afternoon. You can see a bit of the frozen lake through the trees on the right side of the photo.

Please excuse my poor photo taken with my little waterproof digital pocket camera...

On the way to my trail run with the Origin Classic today, I stopped at the boat launch parking lot and ran a battery through my Rlaarlo XTS-F10. That thing is a blast.

During a full-throttle, high-speed, drifting turn, I hit a stone and the car rolled and launched into the air, barrel-rolling like a 1:1 rally car crash, except on pavement. I was dreading to find out what damage it had incurred.

None. And not only was there no breakage, I had to really look hard to even find any evidence of the crash... barely a scratch! It's a tough little bugger.

I've always wondered how durable those Rlaarlo are. Good to know!

Well, I did do a Shoe Goo/fiberglass sheetrock tape reinforcement job to the vulnerable spots but, after watching a bunch of video reviews of the model, it does seem pretty tough. Considering that a lot of these reviewers are bashing them at skate parks and purposefully abusing and attempting to destroy them, I think it will hold up well in normal use.

My other Rlaarlo rally car, the XTS-S10, did sustain some damage on its first crash but it was a violent one and involved a frozen snowbank with an irregular surface that probably created impacts in spots on the car that wouldn't normally receive them. And still, it was very minor damage and a simple fix.

I've always been wanting to pull the trigger on that Gulf colored Porsche 917, but always held off. And, It's looking like that particular livery is getting scarce.

From what I've seen (I think I've watched every Rlaarlo vehicle video on line), those things can be made to go extremely fast with some tweaking and can survive some tumbles at very high speeds.

I really like the Mazda 787B copy they make and was almost ready to order one when they went out of stock. I don't really have a good place to do speed runs, so it's probably a good thing my purchase plans were foiled. We have more frost heaves than flat road around here. 😄

The problem with those Lemans cars is that if you want to go fast, you'll need room and clean, near perfect pavement.
I can't imagine the spoilers on those Mazdas could survive a hard rollover.

Today i got to run my Slash 4x4 Ultimate and my iXSR+ in 94* - 96* F Oklahoma heat this afternoon and everything went well my radio still powered up like normal although i did dim\turn off the screen while i was running to help keep the transmitter screen from heating up too much and it also helped with battery consumption on the transmitter.

I got out in the back yard before the snow/rain to run a few batteries through the Team Associated Rival MT10.

I've only run the trail rigs and rally cars since the snow melted and I forgot how outrageous this monster truck basher is. Running it on 2S makes me smile; running on 3S makes me laugh out loud. 😄 :thumbs-up:
