A boy needs a kickass bike! I told my mom that her and my dad were remiss for only buying me Huffys when I was a kid! lolWell Breydon came up this weekend and made a couple new friends here. They hung out all weekend riding bikes, playing cops and robbers and chasing each other, and driving the Kraton. Breydon has outgrown his bicycle, so I needed to order him a new one and @Greywolf74, being the kickass guy he is, wanted to up the game a bit to help get him get a decent bike. So Breydon picked out this Mongoose.

Oh, and after being out in the sun for two days, Breydon got a bit toasted on his forehead, so I ordered him a vintage Mongoose hat to go with it.

I'm ok with Huffys, it makes me appreciate my GT Pro Performer once I was able to afford one myself.A boy needs a kickass bike! I told my mom that her and my dad were remiss for only buying me Huffys when I was a kid! lol
I too huffed and puffed them. Helps justify the cost of my Trek now.I'm ok with Huffys, it makes me appreciate my GT Pro Performer once I was able to afford one myself.
I just learned the other day that GT and Mongoose are marketed by the same company, along with Cannondale, Schwinn, and a few others.I'm ok with Huffys, it makes me appreciate my GT Pro Performer once I was able to afford one myself.
This wasn't the case back in the 80's.I just learned the other day that GT and Mongoose are marketed by the same company, along with Cannondale, Schwinn, and a few others.
Yeah, all the big names in BMX have had a change in ownership over the years. But I remember Haro was ridden by the biggest names back in the 80's as far as BMX racing goes. Mongoose was definitely up there as well, but Haro was the big one as far as I remember. I was subscribed to all the BMX rags back then, and followed the sport as best I could on satellite. That's when I buit my Diamondback, which I tried to build to the same specs as one I saw in one of the magazines. We had an old strip mine we rode that had some of the sickest jumps and hills, and a basic Schwinn BMX just wouldn't cut it. I really miss those days. This wasn't the case back in the 80's.
GT was probably the biggest name in freestyle back in the 80's. They did have great success with BMX as well. Mongoose was the big BMX brand.
