Boy, those are pricey. They look cool though. I never liked the pegs because we mostly rode in the woods on narrow trails to the strip mine we rode in. The first time I went through there with pegs I caught a small tree on them and bent my axle. I could always take the pegs off his 16" bike I guess. But his friend wants to buy it from him because he thinks it's a sport bikeI run the cult butter pegs. Durable and cheap. as of late a lot of skateparks require sleeved pegs but I sometimes just run metals anyway. It’s no different than a skater bashing their trucks on a ledge

I rode one of these back in the 80s
Proper weight distribution increases traction and predictability. I’m sure there’s other benefits too..how does the balancing help i’m curious
I have been looking at them, but not sure which ones to get him. I was going to let him decide.
Also a different seat. The one that comes on it is fugly.
Pegs are a HELL of a lot easier on shiit than trucks are lol…I run the cult butter pegs. Durable and cheap. as of late a lot of skateparks require sleeved pegs but I sometimes just run metals anyway. It’s no different than a skater bashing their trucks on a ledge
You make a good point. But I doubt he's going to be doing much of that here. We can't jump an RC anywhere except by the dumpster. And you have to try to miss the dumpster. The rest is just flat. Two pegs. One side only. And is the seat comfy? It’s only there to keep you from racking your nuts… should be down out of the way, and heavily padded. The uglier the better.

If it’s findable, they will find it. There’s more stuff to ride in any given area than you think lol.. Unless they’re just sitting on their bikes, and “hanging out” rather than actually riding them, those pegs will get used lol.. And that seat won’t matter as long as it’s parked in the right position..You make a good point. But I doubt he's going to be doing much of that here. Flatland riding is still alive and well too!If it’s findable, they will find it. There’s more stuff to ride in any given area than you think lol.. Yeah, we found the most dangerous spots when I was a kid. But I have Google Maps, and Google Earth. There just ain't chit that's not flat here unless he rides a mile or so away and breaks into a gravel storage yard for the city. That would not be good. I know. I drove in there looking for a bashing spot and quickly got ran outIf it’s findable, they will find it. There’s more stuff to ride in any given area than you think lol.. And Chad DeGroot was the man… Takes a rare breed though.. It this kiddo is just hanging out with the “neighborhood kids”, I’d be willing to bet that it’s not likely any of them are flat landers lol.. But I’ve been wrong before.. I mean I knew a LOT of amateur, and pro riders.. LOTS of us were racers, lots of us were dirt jumpers, lots of us were street… some all or two of the above… I never hung out with a single flat lander.. not once lol.. But I KNEW they were out there.. with an outdated Walkman, some crazy pants, a man bun, and a parka, ripping shiit up by themselves for HOURS out of sight from everyone else..Flatland riding is still alive and well too!
The kid named Jordan looks exactly like the motocross racers do. In fact, I believe he rides dirt bikes too. And I think he rides them right across the street from us. Which last I heard is owned by the local po po's for diver training. It's all flat tracks. And Chad DeGroot was the man… Takes a rare breed though.. St Louis is a bit of a drive. I've been there quite a few times.Little motor, have you been to IL/Indiana? Wicked could probably look to the west and see beer goggles![]()

Boys just being boysKids still ride bikes just to cruise. They don't necessarily segregate into any specific discipline of freestyling. Of course, they will have fun just trying to learn tricks, but most will not try to take it to a serious, competitive level. Essentially, this described me and the neighborhood kids, back in the 80's. We did flatland, we built jumps, but most of the time, we were just cruising around, all over town.
Even today, there are kids still plenty of young kids that use bikes for what they're originally intended for: transportation.
