it stopped around me. the last indoor clay track i had local to me (now closed) was smoother than pavement. it had an indoor mister system that got turned on every so often and leaf blowers in the corners that got used to blow the dust and marbles out of the racing line after every 4 minute heat. it was so hard packed, had so much sauce on it, rubber would build up in the corners. that kind of surface and "maintenance" seems to be what racers want in a racing surface these days. i think that's one reason why carpet is becoming so popular.
