How's the weather been?

The lines stay up year round. They are only used in sap season. Miles of line.....there's around 4,000 taps. Lots of broken and just stuff that needs attention......like this small stuff just stretching out and messing up the line.

Two 3/4" lines down from here looks like a big mess. A large tree came down on the 3/4" that took a number of the thinner lines that go to the taps for the trees. I've dug damage like it out from 4' deep of snow and ice layers. Much easier to do now.

Took the wheeler in and hiked just over 3 miles dealing with this today.
Do you think I'm a sap or something??? 🤯

4' of snow? I have a gas powered shovel for that! 🤣
Might even just reach for a torch at that point!

Gas powered shovel? You need snowshoes to get there. And I've been tracked

There was at least three of these dogs that season.

They have fresh tracks on top of my fresh tracks from walking in.

Is this on private land? Are you allowed to tap on public land?

Yeah, private property that borders the GMNF. My buddies just bought another bunch of acreage next town over too. Should get us to 5000 taps. And a huge new sugar house is in the works. I've never heard of anyone putting up and taking down their lines every year. The expense and time that would take wouldn't be worth it. Plus to throw out that much more plastic wouldn't be wise.

Seeing that, I hope you're packin' while you're workin'!
I did after that day. That was when we pulled in in the morning. We thought it was only one, but in the first picture it's looking back over it's shoulder.....then the next one came out. The day before there was pictures on the game cameras of a buck in pursuit of a doe. The dogs were following them. To the left of that field is where we go in....thats where they ran. It was definitely a day that all my senses where turned up to 11 👍
