Been gone for a while but now I’m back. How’s everyone been?

That guy KevinTalbot on YT has some pretty sick videos on RC’s. Very entertaining. And then I watch Mark Santamaria sometimes.
Never heard of em’

They’re both on YouTube and they do reviews and unboxings of RC vehicles. Pretty fun to watch.

Just don't believe all the hype. Those guys SELL RC cars on their channels.

I bought a 3s Granite based on "if they can do it in a video, I can do it at home" mentality.
Now I'm just mental and you don't want to go there! 🤣
The 3s truck just isn't a 3s truck. Prob fine on 2 s... thats not what I paid for tho.
If I listened to advise from actual ppl here instead of Mark Santamagicmoneymaker and his youtube friends, I'd have steered clear of that one all together.
Traxxas, Arrma, lots of other companies are paying those guys to sell their cars... and it works!!!
We aren't getting paid to sell anything.

It sucks to admit when we get stiffed but we say so here... so the next person has better luck.
Even if it sounds like we are crapping on a product to be mean, because we do that too 🤣, we do it to tell the truth about what we have real life experience with.

Those vids are great to see a product for the 1st time or 3 but believe half of what you heard and none of what you saw. 😉🤣

Hong Nor and Kyosho look like they are making waves in 1/8 scale right now. Though not new, they are making a come-back of sorts.
Both solid companies with strong racing backgrounds.
Hobao and Corally are also good looking, often overlooked lines that might interest you.

I like PR Racing also but I don't know that they offer anything to suit your needs right now.
Look at their line up for some yummy looking race buggies when you get a free min. too.

Thunder RC just did a video a couple days ago, Traxxas MAXX, unbreakable!!
I liked the video. His channel is cool. I still don't believe it's unbreakable
Talbot drove the "UK ONLY" V2 Maxx in one of his vids and it survived a beating. If you're into skate park bashing the hell out of an RC, it looks to be pretty fun, and durable.

Thunder puts stuff through abuse and he admits when it breaks

Sage advice. Thanks. I’ll look into Corally after dinner tonight. Rings a bell. And I’ve heard of Hobao before. Not sure how exactly.

Thunder RC , I’ll search him up right now 👍

Likely from your 76 page long thread that answered all these exact questions months ago?

Just watched that vid. Thunder has some good vids 👍
Ya f**k Talbot and Santa Maria’s stuff. Traxxas sends them cars man. Promote our brand we will send you cars. RCDriver is fake too.

I want to be fake too. Send me cars. 🙏

😉😆

That’s messed up. I’m all set with those guys then. I’m glad we had this talk. Can’t trust anyone these days.

On another note , I’m obsessed with researching steering servos lately. How some are awesome and total overkill (which I like) and some are complete crap with weak plastic gearing.

I don't mind Talbot. And I am kinda tired of hearing guys make claims about him that are far from true. He doesn't pull any punches, at all. He has not been bought by the big box brands, as others tend to think. But he does like his Traxxas RC's. Does he get free RC's? I am sure he does. But most of the ones he videos, I am sure he buys himself. He doesn't really tell you if a product is good or bad. He just takes them out and tries to break them, and shows you what broke. Simple as that

A lot of folks give him a bad rap. Maybe out of pure jealousy (because he has made a fortune with his RC channel), or they don't care for his over dramatic character, or whatever. You can't hate the guy for being smart enough to come up with the world's most popular RC YT channel now can ya? Some can I guess.

But watch one of his live streams and you'll see the real guy. He is a very cool dude. He's also a very sharp fabricator/welder, even though in his vids while working on RC stuff he appears to be a big hack. That's just because he doesn't really care to make things purdy. Just functional. And they usually do just that.

Check out his 1:1 monster truck build channel where he built a complete monster truck from the ground up, then tell me he doesn't have skills. I have worked directly with THE BEST fab guys in the IndyCar and NASCAR business, and I am not even joking, not even a little bit. The best. I watched a few of the top guys at the shop I was at build 5 Silver Crown cars from tubing and sheets of aluminum in just a few weeks, by hand (see pic). They also built all the NASCAR radiators. The best in the business, by far. I'm here to tell ya, Kev's an all right dude. He does what he does to make money, and nobody can say he didn't do just that 😉

I find his videos very entertaining. Just the thought of him or anyone getting paid by a specific company to promote their product is a turn off for me. Some seem to think he’s bought by said company. Some don’t think that. I still like his videos. He’s very charismatic and seems very knowledgeable about the hobby. I like looking at all the RC’s in the background in his shop. Pretty awesome.

Talbot is one of the few I'll take time to watch... others only if I'm wanting a closer look at a particular model without going to the store, and then the sound is on mute.

Yeah, that is it 😁

Nah. I watched a lot of his live streams, just to have some background noise. I never was a big fan of his regular channel, because he puts on that crazy persona. But his live streams are cool. He even gave Breydon a shoutout in one of his vids, when I told Kev to holler at him to wake him up, and he did 😆
