I don't mind Talbot. And I am kinda tired of hearing guys make claims about him that are far from true. He doesn't pull any punches, at all. He has not been bought by the big box brands, as others tend to think. But he does like his Traxxas RC's. Does he get free RC's? I am sure he does. But most of the ones he videos, I am sure he buys himself. He doesn't really tell you if a product is good or bad. He just takes them out and tries to break them, and shows you what broke. Simple as that
A lot of folks give him a bad rap. Maybe out of pure jealousy (because he has made a fortune with his RC channel), or they don't care for his over dramatic character, or whatever. You can't hate the guy for being smart enough to come up with the world's most popular RC YT channel now can ya? Some can I guess.
But watch one of his live streams and you'll see the real guy. He is a very cool dude. He's also a very sharp fabricator/welder, even though in his vids while working on RC stuff he appears to be a big hack. That's just because he doesn't really care to make things purdy. Just functional. And they usually do just that.
Check out his 1:1 monster truck build channel where he built a complete monster truck from the ground up, then tell me he doesn't have skills. I have worked directly with THE BEST fab guys in the IndyCar and NASCAR business, and I am not even joking, not even a little bit. The best. I watched a few of the top guys at the shop I was at build 5 Silver Crown cars from tubing and sheets of aluminum in just a few weeks, by hand (see pic). They also built all the NASCAR radiators. The best in the business, by far. I'm here to tell ya, Kev's an all right dude. He does what he does to make money, and nobody can say he didn't do just that
