Why everyone hates traxxas servos ?

I feel we dont talk enough about driving lol I want to try a new one because its super cheap but unless i hit a curb with speed i dont see it breaking.

Thanks. There is so much options lol
It's not just hitting things that causes RTR servos to go bad. Simple bumps and jumps can knock out cheap servos. The RTR stuff is not built to last. I wouldn't waste my time or money on them when you can get a cheap metal geared servo off Amazon that will far outlive any RTR servo on the market.

Well that sucks haha. But when i see some threads, its like you absolutely need to buy a new servo right a way. The handling seems fine to me and i think ppl can have a good run with the stock servo. I agree that thats maybe not the best idea to replace it with an other traxxas servo tho. Does traxxas has a policy on this ? Breaking because of bumps is a normal use of the car. I wont take that route tho.

I think I read Traxxas doesn't have a warranty now. No idea. I am sure if you buy a new Traxxas from a LHS they would try to help you out. But it's not worth messing with, since they'll likely just toss another crap servo in there. Drive it til they go, then replace with better. No sense at all to keep putting crap servos in your RC, unless you just want to work on them.

If you've read thoroughly through this thread, the majority of replies recommend to use the stock servo until it dies, then replace it.
For most recreational users, entry level servos will be fine. If you compete or race, then it would be advantageous to stay competitive.

Here i know. I mean in the internet in general. I just bought 2.8 badlands. Ill see when it breaks lol

I bought brand new Traxxas kits and the servo mounting tabs were broke and cracked from over tightening. Eventually the tabs get so bad the screws wont hold. the plastic is very brittle. I bought a new case for it and tried the rubber grommets but then they flex around. The ebay new take offs were the deal but those $20 amazon ones look sweet!!

Unlike other things, chinese servos are a steal i think.

Hey guys. I put a 35kg amazone servo. 20 mins to install. Its a nice upgrade. I have 2.8 and do heavy offroad so it helped alot my driving. The car stay straight and i turn where and when i want lol

can't see how the stock breaks tho. I did pretty hard stuff and it was doing ok. It was just annoying when i hit rocks etc because the car would takes unexpected turns.

Cheap 20kg / 277oz servo. $13.66. Your stock one is 5.76kg / 80oz.

I use this same servo. Never had a problem with it. I like the fact that it turns 270°. It's very easy to set steering endpoints to get the maximum amount of steering throw. I get more throw with this than a Savox. This servo is fast enough for my racing needs.

Theres half the reason people hate them right there. :)
It was not enough for me to "hate" it but its satisfying to have a new servo lol

I got the 180° because i can't adjust endpoints with the TQ transmitter. Its basically the same thing as the stock traxxas. I feel the amazone one is a little more progressive at the beginning and i like it.

A 180 degree servo is still going to need EPAs. If I were you I would use D/R to set your end points. Does the TQ radio have D/R?

Why ? I can't change it with the TQ. Only with the TQi
That's because Traxxas doesn't care if you burn up their servos. They want you to buy more 😉

Even if you buy a servo with the exact same travel as the stock servo, you need to set your end points. Not doing so is going to eventually burn up your servo, no matter how good of a servo you throw in there. If your radio doesn't at minimum have a dual rate knob to do this, the first thing I would do is replace the radio. A cheap Flysky GT3B which has endpoint adjustments would be a good investment for vehicles that you can't adjust your endpoints on.

Well i know how traxxas thinks but i think i never got close to burn it. Thanks for the suggestion but the servo is only 40can$ and i prefer not to buy somethingelse to prevent another thing to break.. saw a few times that you have to adjust endpoints but I'm pretty sure alot of ppl have the same servos without issue and didnt not set end points. Unless i go slow i never turn all the way and when the car is on the ground, it dosent turn as far as when i grab it.

Maybe I'm just lucky or maybe I'm just not as rough with my trucks as some others, but I've never had a problem with a Traxxas servo, at least not yet. I'm running 2075 servos in 4 of my trucks right now, and a 2056 in my boat.

The 2075 in my main truck, which is a Slash 4x4 Monster Truck / extended Stampede 4x4, has been going strong since I bought my Stampede 4x4 back in 2011. Some years back, before I converted it to a Slash 4x4 Monster Truck, I preemptively swapped the plastic gears out for metal gears. Back then, Traxxas didn't have a metal gear version of the 2075 yet, or an upgrade kit, but the metal gear set for the Savox SC0251MG fit perfect in the 2075. Later I upgraded the 2075 in my second truck, a more conventional Stampede 4x4, with metal gears also using the official Traxxas 2072X metal gear upgrade kit this time. My other two 2075s are still using plastic gears.

Granted this was a while ago at this point, but one thing I remember was the difference in speed between the 2075 in my brand new Stampede 4x4 VXL truck back when I bought it in 2011 compared to stock servo in the RC10B4.1 that I had been using prior to getting the Stampede. The 2075 was lightning fast compared to the servo in the RC10B4.1, like it would take less than half the time to turn the tires from one direction to the complete opposite direction. Point being... there are definitely worse servos out there than the 2075.

Oh yea. Don't worry about the play. It's normal. My setup still has that little of play or slop I just forget about it. My setup is Traxxas aluminum bellcrank (upgrading to a hot racing one soon), rpm hubs, Traxxas aluminum tie rods, TLR servo horn and a Amazon servo.
Well the problem was the bellcrank. I just bought a HR allu/carbon one and i have almost no play. I could do even better if i have longer screws that go trought the chassis then the bell crank and the skid plate.
