Who was wrenching today??? What did you do??

Did this last night but started assembling the SK. I spent well over 8 hours but it’s starting to take shape at least. Assembling the front spindles were a pain.

Well, here's the deal. While fiddling around with the motor and pinion gear fitment, I found no threadlocker on the screws/holes:

So, I tore the whole thing apart and checked every possible threadlocking point.
Good deal. Better to catch it before bad chit happens. I still have some stuff I need to get done on a few builds, then I was thinking of tearing down the Kraton.

got the hardened shock shafts installed on the Dromida DT. so that's a runner again.
fiddled with the "generic stadium truck" until i managed to break the plastic servo horn. proceeded to glue it back together and reinforce it by gluing 1/16 fiberglass to the back of it and shaping it with a sanding drum on a Dremel. still need to re-drill the holes.

I’m not adding this to the new scx24, but while waiting on some parts, I did my usual, got it running around on the old everest10 esc and receiver, and old enduro24 motor.

Center damper system installed in the sk. I haven’t lubed the tubing yet, I’ll do that when I set the car up.

Did a little more work and put the nerf wings on. I learned to use a wrench to twist on locknuts and hold the screw with the screwdriver. For whatever reason using a socket or nut driver just strips the locknut. There is a 3d printed bar that screws onto the wings but I won’t have the screws until tomorrow. The front bumper is also on but I’m waiting for the longer screws for that too and then two nuts go on top. I also adjusted the camber links a tick.

Wrenched on 2wd bug. Added new fan.
Finished the 4wd bug rebuild
Added a new servo on the rustler to ditch the "ok" traxxas one. That 2075R servo I had in is 5 years old now. Still works fine. Even though I ran HV voltage through it. Just wanted an upgrade to an aluminum case and something that I know that can handle HV voltage. And its prob a bit more faster and torqueyer too than the traxxas one.

Wrenching on some “upgrades” that should have been included in the “premium kit” lol

Ti shafts, machined pistons, and aluminum caps for the Optic. Also have a spring kit to mess with different spring rates. But I’m going to try the stock reds with this smoother setup and see how it goes first. I know these shocks are universally hated, but I still haven’t had a leak or issue. They were totally fine in stock form but they’re even smoother now.

found a new slightly longer servo horn that fit. turns out i had one go figure  so i worked on the steering on the generic stadium truck. i still feel it could have a tighter turning radius but the steering link is hitting the screw that holds the camber link to the shock tower so I'm out of travel. but i did manage to get it seemingly equal side to side so we'll see what happens. so aside from plugging the ESC into my lap top to diel in the brakes i think its finished.

If Vanquish shocks are known to be, just meh, I got to do some more figuring/research to do, as the Optic was slowly making its way to the top on wish list. I've just begun to study what crawlers/trail trucks are out there without going overboard. "Universally hated" means what?

They’re just known for being leaky but some folks will tell you to toss them in the trash and upgrade. If you take the necessary precautions to silicone lube the cartridge and around the shock cap when you build them, they don’t leak (at least mine haven’t). They perform great out of the box. I just added these upgrades for the sake of needing a good tinker session. Optic should 100% be at the top of your wish list. I’ve been in this hobby a long time and I’ve enjoyed this buggy more than any other vehicle I’ve owned.
