I'm curious to know what kit from the past everyone would pick to build or restore. Let's say parts are still avail...
If you could dial up 1-800-FAV-R-C-KIT and order anything at all, what would you choose and why?
Would you want it to be re-released so everyone could run it too or do you love it because its rare?
What OG electronics would you use???
Trick upgrades for your build???
Fav tires or a body to finish???

I just picked up an ebay Optima Mid and my mind is flying! What to build and how.
I love this platform for its relative simplicity and its durability on a track.
Not bomb proof but WAY better than even my Turbo Optima was!
Its my favorite because its the car I ran at the track that I started competing and even winning with!
It handles great and has/had a TON of option parts.
I'm hoping to build this one with a new/old school chassis design that I loved and never owned...
Once things start landing, I plan to do a build thread. ❤️❤️❤️

Yea. RC10 buggy or RC10 stadium truck

Well those are already been re released. And also in the Clear versions too.

If losi can bring back their 10th scale scts and stadium trucks I would like that. SCTE for example. It's lighter than the tekno .3 and new 2.0 if I am right.

If my uncle finds his double x t I would like to take it away and revive it a little.

Would you build it to run or show? What motor?

They need to bring back the JRX2 without botching it!!! OMG!!!😍😍😍

Yes sir! 😀

If I get that double x t. I'd put in a hobbywing justock 17.5 in there. If Losi brings back the SCTE platform I'll use a 10bl120 G2 esc and one of my uncles old Novak motors. Only if I can find sensor boards for them since those were a popular issue with the ballistic line of motors. 🙄

You think Losi might be better than Tekno?
Well on a indoor track, back then atleast when losi had the SCTE (majorly the 2.0 and 3.0) and tekno had the .3, the losi was lighter truck overall. But on a bigger outdoor track, the tekno would be better because of them beefy parts. SCTE can suffice on a bigger track too. Just really depends.

So you would build it with intent to race it?
I'm looking forward to putting some of my old stuff on a track again.
I think I started to forget about the old stuff. I got wrapped up with the bashers this summer.
I'm pretty excited about doing another build right now!

Seconded. And the proformance kit, so I could build a replica of my very first race-grade RC car.

What I really would like to see is a ’94 YZ-10. It was the first race-grade car that I got to build new from the box. Along with the Optima Mid, it represents the pinnacle of RC buggy aesthetics to me.

The YZ-10 was AWESOME!!!
If they could just reprint it as was... I think I'd be forced to buy it!

I love the Stampede 4wd kit. I've built two of them.
In fact I wish there was a kit option for all of them.
Jennys RC...

I built my Raptor, Rustler 4x4, Raptor R, and Street Slash 4x4 using parts from folks like them.

Thanks @9x19 ,I built my Xmaxx and Erevo from jennys.
I would love to see any kit available.

tossup between the Tamiya Juggernaut 2 and Kyosho USA-1. probably use stock silver can motors, maybe sport tuned motors. Novak Super Rooster ESC. id use a 2.4 gig radio though.

honorable mention going to the RC10GT
Thanks for the reminder about old school monster trucks.

I’d like to change my answer. I’d purchase this Giga Crusher and build a display case for it 🥵

Re-release? Vintage? The OG Tamiya Hotshot. Red, mono shock front & rear. Definitely.
I always liked this HotShot.

I always remember the mono front and always forgot the mono rear!
I guy I knew had a Super Hot Shot. Gold gold gold kit. He put some crazy motor and a 7cell in it and it was CRAZY fast! If I remember correctly, it handled pretty good too.
The suspension geometry on the Hot Shot is COOL!!!

I think you're headed down the same rabbit hole here! I've been seeing a few older buggies and trucks that I remember from decades ago.
Like the ultimate build for me might be the Tamiya Bruiser.
When I was a kid I would wander in to Eric Fuch's Hobbies in the Mall.
I would watch the Team Associated VHS movie from end to end if they'd let me!
Then it was off to drool over a heli that was as tall and prob weighed as much as child me too! AWESOME copter hanging from the ceiling! All I needed was the controller boy and I was READY! (to crash that sucker TOTALLED!!!)
The trains and models were everywhere but the R/C counter was my heaven! 🥰
They had a Bruiser built. If I recall, the built it with a lot of extra channels which was great and all but that radio cost over $1k!
The kit cost as much as a decent used car! I never even thought about buying it. What an absolutely badass truck that was!!!😍
The GigaCrusher and ClodBuster both make my R/C bucket list!
