in 1995 a car made in 1970 was a classic car. by that standard a 2000 Honda Civic is a classic car, but we don't call it one (even though they're becoming collectable). so it depends on how we choose to define "vintage".
are we judging by a date of manufacture view point, a generation viewpoint, a technological view point. I'm in my early 40's, so a car that was around when i was 15 is now 27 years old. feels vintage to me at least.
and wtf do we do with the traxxas rustler/bandit/stampede? and would we count re-releases as vintage sense they aren't exact replicas and have been updated in some ways?
For traxxas id say vintage would be tan chassis for nitro msc maybe the xl1 esc. Re-released i wouldn't count as you can buy it bnib in store still.

Hmm? :vamp:

I don't look at "Vintage" in RC the same way they classify automobiles. Heck, I don't even agree with the way they classify automobiles anymore. A 2005 Pontiac Aztec in my mind will never be considered a classic. An old piece of crap, yes.

But for RC, I totally agree with Littlemotor. Mid 90's and older. Back in the early years when RC was taking off. Anything newer I would never consider vintage. Not even 50 years from now when we have nuclear powered RC cars 😝 Anything after the mid 90's are just old, discontinued RC's.

How many buildings built today do you think will ever become historical landmarks 😉

I'll go a different route... get rid of the catchall "Electric RC" category and make people think a bit harder about where to post something. Of the 25 threads on first page of the "Electric RC" category, 21 of them could be posted in a more specific category. Just sayin'. :crab:

I kinda agree with this. But the Nitro forum would be kinda odd there. So I think Nitro could be moved to the Mechanics section, and ditch the electric EC forum altogether since we have an electronics section for electronic related questions.

All I'm sayin' is, if you got an issue with a monster truck... post about it in the "Monster Truck" category. If you've seen a new upgrade item for a specific RC platform, post about it in that specific RC platform's thread. Oh, wait. That's too difficult to do as well. Hey, I know... I'll just start a new thread.

Having 118 threads on a specific RC scattered all over the place... it's a lost cause Rusty. :p

Sorry. Rusty was wrong. Continue on.

Don't change a thing.

I'm done here. The sun is coming out. I gotta go find an outfit to wear to the track. Hey, I know. Maybe I'll put on my mini skirt again to play with my non-nitro/can and will drift/semi-large scale/monster truck/truggy/electric RC toy.

Could we get this moved to the right category please??? 🤣

At least you can only see some of his junk and not all... 😲🤣

That would be a good one here. There are a lot of people that would get into it if they knew more about it. But the cost of goggles is still ridiculous. They used to be priced a bit better. But at $500-$800 and up for one of the Fat Sharks, or $500-$600 for one of the DJI headsets, it turns a lot of people off of getting into it. There are cheapers ones, but those always seemed to have something that made them a bad choice.

I'm not up on the latest stuff though. Do you know much sbout the new gear? Are there any budget goggles out there worth looking at?

I have DJI gear V2 I believe. I use them with a full fat old style air unit and a lighter Caddix system. Both systems work great.

I haven't 'upgraded' to anything newer, because my existing kit lets me do what I need to do.

Like most things, you pays your money and takes your choice. Availability, trump tax, legality, war etc have all had a noticeable impact on FPV drones, so sadly the prices have rocketed.

That being said, there are often decent second hand options and also bind and fly, ARTR drones.

I haven't kept my ear to the ground, but I do subscribe to Joshua Bardwell and check his reviews etc.

In the UK, I fly with an A2CoC, which opens up where I can fly legally. Importantly, it also gives me the option for me to put my drones to commercial use.

Both of mine are over 500g, so I can't take advantage of the sub 250g rules.

You may note that I use TBS, which I firmly believe is the no compromise option. Plus - it just works.

Nice. I built a 6" stretched drone years ago, but became disabled right before getting the goggles. So I never got to fly it. I don't even remember what components I put in it, but at the time, it was going to be a pretty nice drone. This was right around the time Skyzone first introduced their first goggles with head tracker I believe.

Very sorry to hear that. 🙏 Do you mind me asking - what happened buddy? 🫤

Degenerative disc disease and bad joints. From the time I was a kid til later in my career I did a lot of heavy lifting, which destroyed my back, hips, knees, etc.

I slipped a disc in 2008 - took til 2013 before it healed to a point where the pain side of things became less than a 5.

Really sorry to hear that. I have some idea at least of how painful backs can be.

Valium, anyone? 😅🙏
