Shiiiet man, the first thing that comes to mind when I hear tamiya is old man
That's why we have monster trucks, semi trucks, drift cars and crawlers.Shiiiet man, the first thing that comes to mind when I hear tamiya is old manI still got some young racer blood in me
Though for my love of building kits, those prices are making it increasingly harder for me to stay away. With my lack of available track time and increased wrenching time I've been thinking about getting into model building. But why do that when I can get a tamiya model that I can actually drive![]()
Billy Madison was when he had to go back to school "To tell Dad that I'm not a fool" So he can take over the hotel empire. (so many classic lines from that movie "What day is it today? October? No, it's nudie magazine day! LMAO)That's what I thought of. I just watched that.
Billy Madison was the movie.![]()
Tamiya had a few chassis that could hold their own. The Fox and Falcon chassis, Hot Shot and a few others did pretty well for themselves. On a vintage track, no reason they couldn't compete again today.Ta ME ya...Yeah, get one. (or Kyosho) They've got good stuff. No question. If you want to race? Nah.

I'm in!This thread died....but no one mentioned the lack of an oval category. The suspension tuning alone justifies it.
Never run on a carpet with berms....but I would. Doesn't matter to me....dirt, carpet, or asphalt...oval is fun. The carpet oval by me they set up as a road course sometimes and use for other things. My luck with timing it right is poor where it's setup for oval and I have the right car with me.I'd do oval. But it's all "road racing" these days. No Left Turn Only stuff, at least where I live.
I raced oval once.
It was actually really cool. It was really because of the track/shop support. I came in as a kid with my Losi JRXT thinking their outdoor dirt track was going to be open. But anyways, today was indoor carpet oval day, and they were like "Okay, here's what you need". Mostly it was sponge tires and a body they let me borrow oh and a bigger pinion gear.
Then suspension. Never stiffened up that hard until I met my wife. HA. Carpet with carpet berms. It was cool. Almost won, but alas, nailed a corner in the last few seconds and it was all over.
I'd do it again. That track/shop doesn't exist anymore. It was a looooong time ago.
nope! 100% traxxas slash and UDR!!and i love trucks that handle properly and that don't parachute or blow over backwards off jumps.
i was more tolerant of the less than desirable performance when they at least looked scale. but racers turned them aero to fix the short comings and now they look like mutated/melted trash.
