Took out the RB10 for its first rip today. Fully stock with only a minor slipper adjustment and 5mm shims all around. Gotta say, for what it is I'm pretty happy. Given the dry and dusty track conditions mixed with med/hard stock tires it really didn't do bad. I got damn near an hour of driving out of a 2s 4900 which blew my mind. 2wd is a lot to get used to with this dust, and that theres little to no chassis control in the air like you would have with a 4wd.

Both our local outdoor and indoor 1/10 off road tracks have closed, so looks like I'll just be running the 1/8 track with it. Once it gets some proper tires, an anti sway bar, and tuning worked through, I really think it'll be a fun rig when I'm not running the 1/8.

Not gonna be an extreme build, minor upgrades as they're needed and the build progresses. Just another thing for me to play with at the track.

Feeling a little better today. Added a bit of camber to the rear (was 0) and just a hair to the front (also was 0). Gave it a bit of toe on the front also. Feeling definitely more stable. Id like to be able to take the diff down to help stabilize the rear on power but according to the manual its just filled with black grease.

Thinking ill get some decent rear tires before i look at the diff.

Good fun though, can't wait for a semi dry day to actually get some traction.

Is that RB10 box stock?
I would think some 3k~5k diff fluid (if wanting to stick to gear diff) and Hole Shot tires on the rear will be a safe bet for that track. When I used to race, I always had a set of Hole Shots with me ;)

So far yes, I mostly plan to keep it that way. I've got a cheap set of VPs on order to try and get some more rear traction in the rear. They're a carpet tire but I've been buying a bunch of no prep stuff lately so not wanting to drop too much money into this thing until the carpet track opens back up (if they even continue their offroad carpet program)

The holeshots do great at the track though! 90% of the time its hard packed with lots of dust mixed with a little bit of sand from previous floods which i think it right where the holeshot excels.

For now I'll probably just leave the greased diff given the track conditions. Really need all the cornering traction I can get. Most of the 1/8 guys here only run around 2-3k in the rear just because of how loose the track gets. At the club races they'll usually hit it with some water before racing and then again before the mains, but that track just soaks it up so fast. At least until it rains, then it takes days to dry out 🫠
 
So one of our local Mugen team drivers was ripping his 2wd mugen at the track.

After seeing a local pro, with a fully tuned buggy run the track, I gotta say, this little RTR buggy kicks ass for what it costs.
