Still trying to sell , sell , sell , I’m wondering what folks think of this new Traxxas release , I’m imagining big slick tires on the back and make a drag car out of it , when that gets boring , put stock xrt tires on it and jump n drive on grass n stuff , the paddle tires are good for our orv park its full of sand areas , but maybe I’m just a dreaming child again,,,, your thoughts ?

I made comments in @DavidB1126's post about this new buggy and to me it's not for me way too much money for a 2WD XRT with a fancy sand rail body and sand only tires in the rear. a very expensive rich man's toy made for a really niche market that's very original of Traxxas. Sorry it's just i'm not much of a Traxxas guy anymore since Arrma, Losi, Associated and Tamiya came into my life. I've owned over 15 Traxxas models over the span of 5 - 6 years and only have 3 Arrma's, 3 Losi\TLR, 1 Associated and 1 Rlaarlo then soon 1 Tamiya. If you want one don't let me hold you back it's just i'm all out of wanting Traxxas.

25 years ago the joke among my friends was that was called maturing. you went from Tyco, to Traxxas, to anything else. you grew up and got better equipment.

That's what happened with me well said, I went from Team Losi and Duratrax to Traxxas then went to Arrma, Associated, Rlaarlo and now i'll be buying my first ever Tamiya kit a Super Clod buster someday as my 27th RC car in my life. I did start moving on to Arrma and others but i'll be keeping my current Traxxas models for the foreseeable future no more selling for me.

Traxxas has good and bad like any brand. The Xmaxx has become an RC icon. I think the sand rail would be cool at $600 ish. I think they are way off on that one.

I agree there not perfect well said, I agree the X-Maxx has become a legend in the RC industry and i've owned 2 so far they're one of my all time favorite RC monster trucks. I love my other Traxxas cars too like my XO-1, Slash 4x4 Ultimate and my Hoss also loved my old 4-Tec 1.0 and 2.0 but nothing they currently make are cars i haven't had a version of in the past. So i'm now starting to move away from them and starting to put my focus onto other brands like Arrma, Losi\TLR, Associated and Tamiya. It's not that i now am a Traxxas hater it's just this sand rail doesn't appeal to me.

in the late 90's/early 2000's it seemed like everybody started out with a traxxas, ether a rustler or stampede. then after you realized you couldn't keep up with the other kids in the neighborhoods AE's and Losi's you went and got one of those. or an evader if you didn't have the money.

xmaxx is not an icon. it's just another MT in a flooded market. it's not even half as popular as the tmaxx/emaxx or revo was 20+ years ago.

I couldn't disagree more with this statement. To call the Xmaxx 'just another monster truck' is like saying the buick grand national is just another car. To each their own I guess.

the bland national was nothing great. just your grandmas regal with a turbo. everything else at the time just sucked so bad it stood out. and turbo technology on cars was "new" to most people at the time. it was only cool because it was faster in a straight line than most everything else on the road.
25 years ago, other than the small pocket of fanboys nobody gave 2 💩's about those things. then some of the weirdos who knew what they were in the 80's modded the crap out of them and got them to run impressive numbers by today standards and people asked wtf is that? then collectors got wind of something with low production numbers and everybody went crazy.

Me too, To be honest i will never buy a T\E-Maxx they aren't bashable without replacing every single part on them with RPM or some sort of metal part the X-Maxx and modern RC's in general are way more bashable out of the box imo. Also i've decided that i'll probably never buy a nitro unless i move to a different state with a good 1\8 scale dirt track that's nearby or unless i feel like i want one bad enough but i love having electric enough.

maybe you weren't around back in 2000 when the tmaxx was released but i was, and let me tell ya, it blew everybody's mind. even the haters. it was a situation where if you didn't have one you probably knew somebody who did. between the builds, forum conversations, magazine articles. it was inescapable. "full metal maxx" is still a joke 25 years later. it caused every other manufacture to come out with a nitro monster truck. the tmaxx was as big in its day, as the slash was in its day. people were even serious about racing the damn things for some reason. and now even with it being a joke and people knowing how terrible of a truck it is, it's still held in high regard for some reason. you couldn't escape tmaxx content. the xmaxx doesn't have the talk, the hype, the aftermarket, people aren't building them as projects, they aren't racing them. the only people who care about the xmaxx are the fanboys and owners, the rest of us have largely forgotten it exists. its escapable. and because of that, it's not an icon.
