Ordered a trailer and the coolest trailer hitch ever.
Can’t wait to weather the trailer. Probably going to go with paint but I am thinking about scratching it a little here and there and adding vinegar to make real rust. Probably just go with brown and tan paint.

Easiest way to weather something is with hair spray, then chaulk dust. You can buy weathering chaulks.

But for really cool rust, paint it a reddish brown, and while paint is still wet, sprinkle some areas with coarse salt. Then spray black over it. When dry, scrape the areas with the salt to reveal the rusty brown underneath. Then do the hairspray and chaulks.

After you're done weathering, give it a few coats of matte clear.

This was just chaulks

Cool thanks
This should be fun. It looks like it comes with black anodizing.
I am thinking about adding rust and cob webs and all the crap you find with trailer.

Wounded how I can simulate tire rot?

It will be black paint instead of anodize.

For the tires, since this will be a working model, just drive it through a mud puddle and leave them dirty. But use the same weathering techniques on the wheels themselves.

Not sure if there is a way to get the rubber distressed to look like dried out old tires. But if you can find some vintage tires the same size on ebay, you might get lucky and find some really crusty ones 😉

Added two more Xmaxx's to my fleet. Testing out the orange one and the green one is a roller. Came with some cool addons. Some GPS logger, live link, spektrum battery tester/servo tester and lots of parts.

Nice! The gps logger is a favorite for speed runners, if you end up not wanting it, you you shouldn't have a problem selling it. I've got one and it's pretty cool for letting you know how fast you go. I even put it in one of my rc planes and it will tell you how high you went too.

Your Xmaxx collection is looking.....hmmm.....badass!

I definitely want to try it out on my outcast 6s and senton. Those suckers fly. The senton literally flys, maybe not as high as your planes, but it tires 😂.

That green one is SICK!
@Tunedpipe

WOW eyegasm.

The only reason I bought them is for the green one 😂. Plus the orange one will make a good backup or sell it.

I just gotta decide on parts to finish it...

"I" didn't buy it, my wife did for me for Christmas, kraton exb roller.
2021-1115-kraton-side-body-high.jpg

I haven't started working on it yet, will likely wait for Christmas. I don't intend on running it until the Spring anyway.

So far I've bought:
4092 1650kv rocket/surpass motor
35mm alloy framed fan for the blx185 (or max6 if they go on sale)
30mm alloy framed fans to mount to spare NHX motor coolers
M2C rear tower brace
probodyrc body in red
bearings for steering
diff shim kit to do away with the LSD stuff
c-clips to compress the servo saver

Hoping the max6 goes on sale again for black Friday. If not, I'll likely try running a blx185 in it, just gear it a bit lower than my outcast which has the same motor in it with a max6 currently.

I'm pretty sure my wife has ordered the PPS motor mount, which I asked for for my outcast, but I'll likely put it in this instead if she did get it.

I have a hobbystar hcs-4521 servo that I took out of my maxx4s because it broke. I was able to repair it by replacing the 2mm shaft that holds the middle gears. I use that servo in my outcast and e-revo 2.0 without issue, so it should do fine in the Kraton. I'll likely put a spare set of backflip MT's on it that I have that still need kevlar cord added.

I also ordered a vitavon ring/pinion set for the rear of my maxx, if when it blows out again. It showed up a couple days ago.

Interested on how the trailer is. Last few days been thinking hard on the rc4wd big dog trailer.

Below is the hitch setup I got for mine.

I would go the sand and vinegar route. I did that and after a few wet sessions, my 10.2 frame looks realistic. You can also get bass or balsa slats to change the look.

I have an outcast exb that was rtr. The 150a esc and stock motor seem to be plenty for the truck. The kraton is a little bit longer, so it should handle better but the truck is pretty ridiculous. I can't see being able to utilize more power than it has now. I guess the older versions were a little under powered? Not sure what version outcast you have. I've upgraded the esc fan and added a motor fan. The 35kg Amazon special servo seems to holding up well for me. I might grab another for a spare on my other trucks.

The diffs should be fine too. Unless you really don't like the LSD configuration?

I would look at getting the m2c shock stand offs too. The stock stand offs are pretty weak. I broke one off completely and the other side was on its way out lol. Possibly the m2c 6 lug conversion too.

For where I run and how I run, I needed a bit stronger motor to gear it for the speed I wanted. The 4074 2050kv was ok on 6S, but when pushed hard in grass on an 80F day, it would overheat unless I geared it down more than I wanted. The max6/4092 1650kv in my outcast is a bit on the unwieldy side, but I'm used to it now and it would do fine in the kraton as well. I just have a couple blx185's sitting here not getting used and thought I'd try one out with the bigger motor, unless the max6 does go on sale again... then it's irrelevent.

I really don't want the LSD stuff. As it wears, it will lighten and I'd rather just have it consistent until the diffs die.

I thought about the stand offs, just wasn't sure. I know they redesigned them and figured I'd try them first. I have the older M2C 2 piece ones in my outcast (uses M4 grub screws from the back side and a nut). I bend them, then bend them back, but haven't broken one of those yet. I'm not sure how the newer M2C ones do in comparison.

She must have seen that HH sale :)
I picked one of these up too cuz the Kraton I think has become my second favorite RC of all time. Now I have the 4S, 6S and the 8S Kratons lol

Makes sense, I ran mine for an extended period is decently tall grass and everything was extremely hot. But the esc fan failed too. I'm hoping the upgraded rocket fan and adding one to the motor helps. I also put screens under the covers.

The newer shock stand offs are pretty beefy, I wouldn't be surprised if the shock tower doesn't bend before the stand offs. I saw their older design, which was definitely better than stock but these are definitely better.

Have you had any stripped wheels?

I also picked up a new toy today... Pretty cool so far. Definitely going to get lights and possibly the lift kit.
