I wish I had a classic car. My dilemma is I can't figure out what I'd choose to have anymore, as I love a lot of them. Haha.
We're a Subaru family, got ourselves a Wilderness Outback and I still have my Crosstrek. I do still miss my little 2004 Mini Cooper, that was a fun ride :)
I bet you'll end up with a weird one that you'll find one day while apple picking or something equally unrelated to cars.
You'll see a bright yellow wagon in a barn and its as good yours. 🤣
Maybe a blue Corvair. 🤔

Haha yea, that would be fabulous to just come across "the one". I love classic muscle cars, but they are monetarily out of reach these days, so I keep my eye on the more, under the radar models.

I usually go between the idea of a classic wagon, a BMW 2002 or something like an 80s Toyota FJ60 or similar, cuz the idea of driving an indestructible land yacht sounds kinda fun 😄. See, I'm all over the place in what I'd want. I'll probably never pin it down.

For now I'll continue to watch them go by on Bring a trailer. Lol

Yeah, you'll know it when you find it. 😎
Dreaming about them is half the fun anyways. 😍

So true 😊. For now, I'll keep sketching classic cars to help fill the void 😂
You could post the sketches on their own or with the builds that they inspire. 😁👍😎

I'll spare folks a thread of my silly car sketches. 😄

I bet there are a few other artists who might join in on an artists thread. 🤔 There is a metal art thread, AI art thread so why not cool sketches or 'Stuff you drew' threads??? 😎
I am pretty tallented with a box of crayons. I can poke myself in the eye with all 36 colors! 🤣
My Mom soaked up all the artist tallent in our family I think!
I bet your sketches are WAY better than mine!!! 😉

Man, seeing that Blazer makes me miss my '78 K5. Sorry - don't have a pic I can share from here at work.

I've had my 1980 Jeep CJ-7 since 1995 when I sold the Blazer to get it (I'd always wanted a Jeep). Over time, it's grown up, gotten bigger and better, and came to be like this around 2009 after I replaced the rusted out corner sheet metal.

About 4 years ago, I bought another 1980 Jeep to swap drivetrains - so mine now has an AMC 304 V8 & TF999 automatic, and I've decided to turn it into the best Jeep it can be before I retire in 5 years. Here we are before the swap began.

It's now rollin' 35x12.50 SSR Swampers on Pro Comp 069 15x10 aluminum rims with a YJ hard top, late-model 'paddle-handle' doors, Edelbrock Pro-Flow 4 MPFI, Patriot Clippster ceramic-coated shorty headers, tru-dual 'redneck' exhaust with ancient blown-out Cherry Bombs, a Fishbone Piranha bumper, Oracle LED Halo headlights, LED replacement lights, and way too many nit-noid things I've been replacing to mention.

Here it is with the other Jeep - I gave to my buddy Dave and he rebuilt the little beater within a year or so - but then again, he's single, works from home, and doesn't have a messed up back.

I just bought a set of Corbeau Sport seats with heat and lumbar, the entire HushMat kit, a BedRug full carpet kit, a new JVC AM/FM/BT/USB head unit, along with some Kicker 4" and 5.5" full range speakers to go with the Kicker Comp 10" subs and their 400w amp, JeepAir factory-style A/C (to replace the original one I removed 20 years ago), and some RaptorLiner to paint the roof along with some color-matched paint cans for the doors.

But that's only part of it...

Damn good looking trucks!!! 😍👍

So, here's Part 2 of my Classic Car collection.

You know what's sad? This little '95 Honda Civic VX now falls into the category of Antique car. Yep - it's 30 years old. I bought it in 2004 with a blown engine for $800, had it running and back on the road for another $700, bought some rims & tires, had the windows tinted, swapped-in some Acura Integra seats, drove it like I stole it for 4 years getting 39mpg, and made $1000 when I sold it for $3500.

It was a fun car, but lost all of it's cool factor when I found this on Craigslist.

1971 Mach 1 w/351C-2V. Sorry little Honda - you're just not that cool to me anymore. I still wish I would've kept it, though. Oh well.

The interior was just as bad as the rest, the engine was seized, transmission flogged, brakes rusted in-place, no keys, no title, and the tires barely held air. I asked my buddy, a 45-yr master mechanic what I should start with, and he said, "A tetanus shot."

4 years later, a new front clip, 60% sheet metal replaced, $45K in parts, 3 years worth of weekends, and all sorts of razzing and hate over that time, and here we are.

I did WAY too much stuff to it to list here - suffice it to say, every single nut & bolt was touched, cleaned and/or replaced.

Oh yeah.. and it's WAY cooler than that little Honda.

i have a 71 Volkswagen Super Beetle. i need to flush out what I'm assuming is bad gas (it's been in the tank almost 2 years), put a new alternator on it and tune the carb and it'll be driveable again.
there's also a 59 Studebaker Silverhawk in the garage. last registered in 75, last time the tires saw public streets was 83. its been out of the garage maybe 4 times in the last 40 years. not sure who's name is on the title, it's ether my grandparents or my dads. been in my family sense it was new. my great grandparents were the original owners. one of these days ill dig it out and make it run. id like to do a full body off restoration, but idk if ill ever get that far on it. I'm easily distracted and currently semi looking but not real hard for another car, probably another bug but also have a crap tone of pre 1971 cars on the radar.

don't have any pics of the Studebaker but here's my bug in it's prime (2009ish i think)

No way, is that OG Bumblebee?!?!

No way, is that OG Bumblebee?!?!
it wasn't until those damn movies came out. (not a transformers fan) now kids think it is, even though the original is based off a 67 but I'm not going to fault an 8 year old for not knowing what year a bug is.

I have a couple right now.

The 1990 Isuzu super Trooper: it’s a work in progress. Awaiting for some ambition to grow to complete it.

This engine is a 93 firebird v6 block, 2005 Chevy uplander heads and lower intake, with an equinox upper intake manifold. 200hp with bone stock components. Should be a hoot.

Actually, in the OG Transformers cartoons from the '80s, Bumblebee was indeed an old Beetle... not a Camaro... and he could actually talk without using the radio channel-hopping.

While your motors and tranny swapping....... I think the ram would benefit from a hellcat power plant. 🥰😝🤪

Oh trust me, 395bhp from its e-Torque HEMI is plenty. Even after I upsized to 35" Nitto Recon Grapplers, it still wants to break 'em loose at every stop light.

An 1981-1985 El Camino V8 would be cool. Muscle car-truck 😁
Neighbor has a white one with a monte SS nose on it. 😎

Not 8! 🥺
12 though... break out the rubber hose!!! Its learnin' time!!! 🤣
