There are a few hundred people who work in the building my lab is in... and every last one of us has an HP laptop... they work just fine, in my experience. I am not a gamer, but they get some pretty heavy use with design works... 2 years ago we all had Dells, same experience.

My home laptops are Samsung (office) and HP which I am typing on... never had an issue with either. Speed depends a lot on processor type and memory sise as well as speed (graphics card / memory too if running games). If those are the same, brand name is mostly a meh.

If any get a new laptop do not get HP, Dell, Toshiba. In my experiences they are trash. Lenovo rules from my experiences. Never had any issues with them, fast and reliable. I heard acer is pretty good and getting better but never had any of their laptops.

Was playing Roblox on the laptop, dell Inspiron 15in from 2017 or 2018, can't remember, it was dad's laptop and he gave it to me. I had it upgraded to a 450gb SSD hard drive, 6GB of ram (from 4 stock) and it still had the factory i3 Intel. Was running perfectly before. Opened Roblox and a few minutes go by, randomly turned off and crashed. Tried to turn it back on, nothing. Tried to listen to see if anything clicked on and notta. I mean, sure it is a 7yr old laptop but it has been upgraded and it's been running perfectly fine before hand, and even while playing Roblox for those first 5 minutes before it just crashed and decided to die. Went through atleast 4 batteries on that thing. And multiple AC adapters and charge adapters. It was on its 2nd charge jack. Just recently got a new charger and battery like a month ago. Smh.

Tagging @Greywolf74 since I know he's a PC guy.

Edit: while to troubleshoot, once I plugged in the charger, the charge light on the laptop wouldn't turn on and the charger would turn off too (since I have a light on that too) Tried it with the battery out and in, notta.

Man, there goes my laptop, so with that, expect slower times with me getting posts/replies and videos out. Ugh.
Its extremely hard to troubleshoot a computer remotely. The only thing I can think of right off the top of my head is to take the battery out and try and power it on while only hooked up to the AC adapter. See if that works. If it does then you should be able to slap the battery back in it and you'll be good. If that doesn't work let me know and Ill see what else I can come up with when I'm not 2 sheets in the wind :)

HP and Dell have some great products, but they also have cheap crap too. Toshiba IMO is meh, but you have to keep them blown out, or they tend to overheat a lot. Asus makes the best shizz in the business. It's hard to go wrong with them. MSI evo line seems pretty decent, but they have some turd products as well.

Yup. That's why the Dell Precision stuff back in the day was king in most engineering departments. Nvidia Quattro dedicated graphics, badass cpu's, etc. My laptop kicked butt playing FPS games for quite a few years, even though the Quattro cards werent great for gaming.

All the Haas service guys that came through our shop were sporting very sexy and very high end HP's. They definitely weren't lame ones you'd pick up at Best Buy. I wanted one and I hated HP then and still do.

Yeah, my ex's son had a top of the line Toshiba gaming laptop. It lasted about 3 months before the CPU overheated because fans were going out in it. It was painted a metallic red. Had two little subwoofers built into the top of it. Crazy looking pile of garbage.

Eh- heck with tracking my tracking on my shipments. I got song stuck in my head for a week now. Great song. Just pops in & out at random. Yesterday driving around, listening to music, hadn't thought it in a day or two- Bam. Plays on the station. U2 - Angel of Harlem. Woke up at 5am... guess whats playing in my head. Angel of Harlem

I've had Doobie Bros, Another Park Another Sunday playing in my head all week!
Listening to "The Very Best of..." to scratch the itch! 🤣

I have an acer. It was handed to me because something was borrowed to the hard drive and there was a letter in the mail. I guess you can say they tried to give the "D". Moving on the user has a Dell now. I loved dells 25 years ago. The new ones are crap. My acer boots up quicker and updates quicker. It won't do anything if it needs an update. No music, internet, or files. Really hope the person who did that stubs their toe and falls down a very long and steep stair case. 🫠🙃😆🤣

So I contacted Hobbywing about a package that got shipped to the wrong distribution center way up in South Bend Indiana, which is about 3 hours north of me. It sat there for a day and left, and has had no further updates in 6 days. The in transit just keeps updating to the current day, but still just says in transit. The package was supposed to be delivered 8 days ago. HW said:

That's not what my local post office told me last night. They have no idea where it is.

Two other suppliers already mailed out replacement orders with return labels should the wayward packages show up, which I will be honest and return. But how long am I supposed to wait? Next year be good? This Christmas present is definitely not happening 🤬😥

I have 5 more packages heading for the Indy USPS distribution center. 3 other packages have been there for 3 days now. The last delivered item sat there 4 days before moving. So far, I am seeing damn near an extra week on my delivers. Stop buying so much crap people. The USPS folks are struggling 😜

Well, I just got my shipping notification for some bearings I ordered. I knew the seller was in Tok, Alaska. Let's see how long it takes. I've ordered bearings from them before. Winter Evening is the seller.

I always get crazy fast shipping from them. I was going to order more bearings from them, but I had an Amain order so I just threw some Fast Eddy bearings in my cart.

I have a total of 8 packages that haven't shown any change in 3 days. They are even sitting an extra day at my local PO. If you guys are ordering Christmas stuff this year, better get on it.

usps is on their BS again

Same with my package which I shipped out. Been sitting "in transit" for 2 days now.

Never mind it's made it there today yay! 😀 🤦

Great..... Probably a goner....

View attachment 211133

Yeah, very likely.

Wow. Yours made it through Indy in one day? I have 4 packages that have been sitting in Indy for 5-6 days now. Another one stayed for 3, then took off north to South Bend. I'm in the blue curcle.

That stinks. Looks like Charlotte lost mine tho

Yeah. Probably screwed ya since you didn't get hung up in Indy. You ain't getting off easy they said. What was it?

Well I have another part running through Indy today from Amain. Hopefully it'll get here. The lost part, but maybe it'll turn up & deliver, is a Arrma bag of M4 black ox nylocks

Indy is an absolute mess. They shipped the one package with my Hobbywing combo up north. Various other packages have made the Grand Tour of Indy distribution centers, with a few of them hitting multiple distribution centers more than once. I envision packages piled up everywhere, falling off the belts, and somebody just picks them up and tosses them on a nearby pallet. It's been the worst week I've ever seen for packages stalling in Indy.

I've got an item I ordered that the seller was listed in Monroe Township NJ. Got tracking, shipped from Port Wentworth (Savannah, GA) now it's in Jacksonville FL. It went south 3-1/2 hours further. Hmmm 🤔 Weird.

Here is another- went right past me...

Maybe they need to defund the USPS for wasting all the taxpayer's money on fuel.

It did leave Jacksonville. Hopefully north towards me & not to Orlando. 🤣

Or further to Lakeland

Whew! Close one! Not much further 🤣

Round & round it goes.. where it stops... who knows

Yeah, let's go break stuff. I just need to get my pants and shoes on and go grab a bat, then I'll be ready.

Well, if you hadn't been such a procrastinator in the first place.... :woot:

Sucks to have such terrible performance from the carriers! :(

I should have ordered both HW combos at the same time, because the first one showed up about a week ago. But they dropped the price $12 after Black Friday passed, and I couldn't resist grabbing another combo.

So, you're being punished for being greedy?
Sounds about right.

😄
