Give Dolly a message for me, many times when I was a teen I......
Oh never mind.

July closes out a disastrous month for both RC and the financial pocketbook. Absolutely destroyed the RC budget for the rest of the summer and probably the rest of the year.

One fence propped up and failing. Two fences down. Out of pocket purchase of a generator after seven days and six hours of no power. Lost all the food in the fridge and freezer adding yet another expense to replenish and replace. Indoor carpet still damp in places from blown-in rain. Had to buy a dehumidifier to dry that out.

Backyard RC grass track severely weathered and in need of rescue. RC drag racing on hold for the entire month - constant rain. Streets full of water and over the curb. Thankfully never reaching the house. All in all, a tough month. Oh well, shrug it off and drive on. Hopefully, August weather moderates and a return to RC grass track and drag racing is in the offing.

That really sucks man. I had to deal with power loss a year ago. Lost about $300 worth of food just a few days after buying a bunch of stuff that went in the fridge and freezer. I lived off a lot of Ramen and canned soup for a few weeks afterwards. Hope things clear up for you guys.

We've returned to buying groceries and stocking the fridge week-to-week. Back-up freezer in the garage we bought for Covid and kept it stocked. Now it stays empty and powered down save for bottled water storage. Fortunately, water was not an issue with this storm. Fresh water pump system for the subdivision operates with back-up generators.

Homeowners insurance policy forces too high a hurricane deductible to qualify for a claim. And it doesn't cover disaster-related purchases like generator or dehumidifier. Nor food losses. Completed a FEMA application for assistance this morning. Hopefully will qualify through them for some aid in deferring out-of-pocket expenses.

Homeowning is expensive, but sure wouldn't have a backyard RC track at an apartment, condo or senior living center. Unless, of course, it's a racer friendly place like Thermal, CA.

Sun's out and blue skies first time in over three weeks today. Let the clean-up begin. Oh, and yeah, dressing up the RC grass track is high on the priority list.

I lived in an HOA in Las Vegas long enough to know that until I am too ill/old to function on my own, NEVER again!
$hundred$ of dollars a month to have some nitwit in a golfcart write tickets for too many pine cones in my lawn or a light bulb out on the side of the house.
I will say that the streets were meticulously maintained.
Unfortunately, I had no R/C's to run on them.
I'm betting someone would have called security to complain about them anyways! Lol! R/C cars are loud and dangerous, don't you know??? Golfcarts, not offensive or dangerous... especially after a night at the clubhouse! (MANY an overturned cart at night!)

We were lucky enough to have a generator when we lost power this winter BUT we ALMOST couldn't leave our neighborhood so no gas! a neighbor cut up a HUGE pine in the road and moved it with his tractor so yay! Beers for them!😉

It sounds like a beautiful day there. Perfect day for a fresh start!

Good luck with the clean up!

Started raining and now storms and thunder. Around when we got back home around 4.
Other than that it was a good day for walking around and doing the skybridge/lift and mountains.
If we didn't turn around in the mountains then we would end up in north carolina lol

I heard DollyWood flooded during the time you were in TN??
Yea. That was the Sunday that we were coming down. Or I think it was Tuesday? Not sure. But we were in Dollywood Thursday at opening to about 3pm and the park was all good and perfectly fine.
