Finished the chrome and sprayed a couple coats of clear yellow. My rough sanding on the initial primer coat shown through and the final product looks like an industrial metallic yellow and I freaking love it! calling it Mellow Yellow.

printing and learning is half the fun
Agreed!

It looks good!

I want to do another one like you’ve mentioned, but I stumbled upon something this morning that has the wheels turning 🤣. But I have three projects in the works right now, a few under the bench, and that new vs 410 portal kit keeps calling my name 😅

Thank you!

I learned early on that I'm a one-project-at-a-time kinda guy. I get overwhelmed too easily lol.

Man, this thing looks sick dude. Very nice job! Love that engine sitting in there!
Thank you!! so many hours have gone into it. I couldn’t be happier with the outcome

The only thing that would make this better is if you left this one alone and bought a new one while at the same time leaving your trx combo for sale at a deep discount of $125.00. 🤣

The group effort manipulation is real!!

And I love it 😂

Some masking and some chrome are going down today!

So many lessons learned through this endeavor. The biggest one: next time I paint a 3D printed body, the whole damn thing is getting smothered in Tamiya putty and sanded…not just the bad spots. The places where I had to make corrections to hide visible top layer patterns are the smoothest sections of the whole job. I’ve come too far at this point to start over so we’re shooting for passing the 5 foot test on this one. It’s going to get trashed on rocks anyway. 🤷‍♂️

Some other ideas.I've also had success with.

1. A 2 part plastic putty called Green Stuff. Can be watered down and applied over layer lines

2. PVA or white glue. Also works but water soluable may not be best application

3. Bondo! Going to try this next. I live in a high heat high humidity region and almost all construction workers use bondo to smooth things out and as filler.
