Terre Haute got a BA skatepark for that new bicycle to get broken in on
Yeah, but sadly, it's way on the other end of town, and I am not able to drive. Him and his new friends will surely find somewhere to ride near by.

Sketchy homemade ramps and dirt jumps always make for the best memories!

I had my vein ripped out of my left foot on one. I rode home 2 miles with only one peddle because I snapped the other one off with my right foot when I crashed. So the one I had left was on the same side as the foot with the dangling vein.

You should have been there. My mom worked nights and slept all day. I woke her to help me. She had me wash my foot off in the tub, and when she saw it she damn near fainted. I'm like, pull it together mom. I can't drive yet.

How to you even fix that? Put a chip clip on it and wait for it to clot?

I have no idea. They had some nurse lean over me and hold my hand while she talked to me so I couldn't watch. She was a real sweetheart. I remember her facial expressions must have matched mine every time I felt a pinch or a poke, because when I was in pain she looked like she was too. I was probably squeezing the chit out of her hand though 🤣

I probably left more skin on pavement and dirt, than I currently have on my body riding bmx and freestyle bikes. Wouldn't trade any of it! 😍 That was my whole existence from 1978 through 1991. I don't know of many brands I didn't own at one time or another. Broke enough frames to build a car with. 🤣

Yeah, all the big names in BMX have had a change in ownership over the years. But I remember Haro was ridden by the biggest names back in the 80's as far as BMX racing goes. Mongoose was definitely up there as well, but Haro was the big one as far as I remember. I was subscribed to all the BMX rags back then, and followed the sport as best I could on satellite. That's when I buit my Diamondback, which I tried to build to the same specs as one I saw in one of the magazines. We had an old strip mine we rode that had some of the sickest jumps and hills, and a basic Schwinn BMX just wouldn't cut it. I really miss those days.

But I remember in the early 80's Hutch hit the scene with their chrome plated everything bikes. They were like the most sought after bikes amoung the guys I ran around with, but nobody could afford one. They were featured in all the magazines as the next big thing. It was my dream bike back then. It's funny. I still remember opening the magazine and drooling over it.
My interest was strictly freestyle. GT had legendary Eddie Fiola, Redline had RL Osbourbe, Haro had Ron Wilkerson. These guys were freestyle pioneers. Then along came Matt Hoffman and Dennis McCoy that brought the sport to another level. Nowadays, guys like Ryan Williams does absolutely insane, mind boggling tricks that I couldn't even phantom back in the day. The only BMXers I can recall were Stu Thompsen and Greg Hill.
Also, it's not chrome plating that you're thinking of, it's the development and use of chromoly steel alloy that was the rage. It was stronger and lighter than traditional steel.

My current rig. I call this my 'old man build' lol always dreamed of a bike like this when I was a poor teen. Then I've got a PK Super Elite for racing

Do all washed up BMX riders become rc drivers 🤔 lol

Classic GT ad with Eddie Fiola on the renown yellow Pro Performer. Mine was bought used from a buddy. All white with pink grips and seat.
I had all the big riders magazine pics on my wall.

At that price, I'd be wackin a kangaroo or two.
Warby's probably from the land of civilised criminals. They stopped hunting game years ago 🤣

We certainly have a lot of kangaroos in our area. The housing development has cornered them in. Trapped. They are in yards and on the roads. I'll try to get a photo.

That is cool, but kinda sad huh. I never really pictured Australia with neighborhoods at all. But over here, pretty much all I have ever seen is movies and such filmed in the Outback.

Not the steak house. Out in the wilderness you silly yanks 😝

I didn’t buy anything but of course amain is tempting me with a sale on the team associated rc8b4e and an additional $30 off for purchase over $350

for got to add that I do need to buy some more grease and shock and diff fluid in preparation of a deep clean of my car, also need to get new body mount posts as I bent them my first weekend racing, maybe a new body, and now miscellaneous things for maintenance like tools containers and a mat for my table
