I just hooked up an ASUS RT-AC1900. My Arris took a dump last night. The wireless died. It is in bridge mode now. The modem section seems fine. Time to coil up the big blue patch cable I made.
If you're looking for wifi replacement, check out Ubiquiti.

Make sure you update the router firmware right away as there is a critical exploit in tons of Netgear routers, including the model you just bought.

I would but I couldn't get the stupid thing to set up or get anything to hook up to it. The first few hours the internet light kept showing a fault nothing wrong with the net I could go straight from my charter internet to computer all day, once I went from the charter to the router it wouldn't work and kept giving me the fault light. I pulled it out and am back to my old Dlink router works fine.

I need the parental controls just to set up time restrictions on certain items in the house to make sure the kids go to bed when they are supposed to short of me confiscating the offending tech.

Got the Linksys hooked up man that was smooth and easy the smartWifi app is extremely user friendly. I hardwired my laptop in to router for set up and added each device one at the time so I would know what they where it picks up automatically what each device is and you can change the name yourself. I now have all my kids devices losing both internet and cell service at 9P.M. every night so now maybe they will be able to get up in the mornings, man they are going to be pissed tonight though.

Just confiscate their chargers. That works better... lol

My kids are resourceful they would just find a way to charge them. We already told the oldest I thought he was going to cry, just wanted to make sure he stopped the Xbox before he lost internet or he would cry. The oldest daughter we just going to let it be a surprise for her, since she is the main reason I have to go through doing this. Man I remember being her age and I was just happy to be able to watch my black and white TV, there wasn't any of this streaming crap or being constanly plugged in. We went outside all day everyday and when I wasn't running the neighborhood my step dad had me working on the farm with him.

In one of the wireless networks I've setup for someone they wanted to restrict internet access for their kids based on a voucher. This way the parents would give the kids a voucher code for when they did chores, homework, etc. The parents would then create vouchers which would be good for 10-60 minutes. In addition the wifi network the kids used was speed limited and also turned off at 10pm.

I think the kids hated me after installing it. :D

The reward system would work for my younger 2 but the older 3 are beyond that, the only other option is to take it all back which is the next step. They where all in the bed by 10 last night and up with me at 5:30 when I was headed to the woods, youngest 2 by 8:30 which they aren't even affected by the router so once less battle there. The older ones are actually good kids no drugs or drinking and they don't really go anywhere so I can't complain on that.

I am just yanking your chain. My youngest is 20 now. Her brothers are married with their own homes and lives now. I do get to keep their dogs when they go to Texas and Delaware to the in laws.

Long ago my son brought home an internet link to nudie pics someone had given him at school. This was when internet was dial up. His link loaded a dialer program that called a 900 number. We got a $300 phone bill. He got busted. The pics were still in the browser cache he didnt know how to clear. Ah parenting.

Bought 2 floureon 8000mah packs. Had an ebay bucks certificate eating a hole in my pocket for a whole 6 hours! Will see what $30 buys ($62 total, $30 with the ebay bucks I accrued).

New charger showing up tomorrow... sadly, looks like it's going to be sub 10F this weekend. Suppose I could push my truck around the house and make "vroom vroom" noises like Rolex does. :)

Ramps, chocks, 6 quarts of Mobil 1 0W20 full synthetic motor oil, filter, a log book, binder, and stapler. Wanted the oil used during break in out of there since there are some tiny metal fragments in it with a new engine. I'll change it again at 5k, then every 5k thereafter.

Also had some moral support from the neighbors dog Max, such a cool dog.

You might want to check that interval with Subaru since you're using a full synthetic oil. I know that with a synthetic blend Ford recommended 4500 miles between changes and GM goes between 9,000 and 12,000 miles on that very oil in their cars. (6,000 in the case of a synthetic blend.) I do motor oil sampling and have a few people in the know that I ask questions in connection with motor oil.

Get your moneys worth, only change the oil when it runs out :D
