You’re welcome. Errrrrr-AHEM; I mean I’m sorry? 🤷🏻‍♂️😅
Lost really thought joining this forum was a good idea his first month or so here. Years from now, while in a state mandated therapy session, he'll come to the realization this forum was what sent him down the path to his downfall, and his family's collection of 753 different RC vehicles.

You see this as something bad.
I see this as opportunity!
Can you imagine 753 mental patients with R/C's?!?!

Wait!!! 🤔

California? 🤔
1 year in Oceanside and they claimed it was more than the state could bear.
That sounds more entertaining than the Olympics
Indeed! Which is really why I keep coming back here every night.
Like a trainwreck. You don't really want to see it but can't really believe its happening and CAN'T turn away! 🤣

I'm confused. Aren't all of us here mental patients, or... oh, I guess it's just me? :bored:

I ended up returning the felt wheels because I didn’t feel comfortable using it on aluminum. Instead I got these cotton swabs that come in various sizes. I feel a lot more comfortable using cotton. I also bought this pipe cutter from Auto Zone to score and cut the body posts evenly so it’s not lopsided. Snap on didn’t have any small ones like this.

You are de-anodizing aluminum? What will be the process?

Yep, done it before. What I do is get a disposable cup, fill it with Easy Off Yellow Can brand oven cleaner, and submerge the part for 10-15 minutes, and then after I rinse it off with a toothbrush with warm water. Then I dry it, and start polishing with Mothers mag and aluminum polish with a microfiber and these cotton swabs for hard to reach areas for a nice chrome finish. My LHS taught me this trick.

Cool. I was just curious if you were actually polishing as well.

And yeah, those felt Dremel wheels are garbage. Their cloth buffing wheels are too. They just fly apart.

I used to polish brake calipers, master cylinders, accessory brackets, etc. I found the best way is doing it all by hand. Lots of rubbing 🤪 But I only used Mother's on stuff after it was polished to brighten it back up. Mostly I used jewelers rouge and white rouge.

I've been polishing parts for the Optima Mid on my bench top buffing wheel.
Works great but if that wheel grabs the part wrong I gotta call my buddy Rick O'Shea to find the part!
Usually stuck in the wall behind me! 🤣
I polished a fair amount of my FXEF with wet sanding and then buffing wheels with different compounds.
Steel wool can be good for polishing too.
I also use Mother's.
Same process has been working for me over 35 years now!

I have shot many a part across the shop from a buffer. I learned to never stand in front of them 😖

Especially wire wheels.

Especially wire wheels.
I once had a bit of wire fly out of a wire wheel and got stuck in my cheek. It was stuck in good too.

Or a belt sander. I have them & deburring wheels on buffer motors all over the shop. I preach this all the time. Don't stand over it or in front. To the side. Especially the grinding wheels for carbide & HSS tools.
