I think it’s crazy people talk about this hobby like it’s for 5 year olds because it a “literal toy” but will turn around and spend thousands on a gaming rig to play games, which are also made for children and act like they have some sort of moral high ground. Just let other people have fun? If you can’t afford it or think it’s a waste of money, then it’s not for you. Not EVERY hobby has to be all inclusive.
Just wild to meI have 2 vehicles, 3 dirtbikes and I own my home. I have the expendable income for these things and plenty of other toys. I don’t need or want a clapped out car just because, “I could literally buy a used car for as much as those cost.” Okay? I could LITERALLY care less. Go buy your broke down car for $500 brokey and leave me alone. It’s like people are incapable of processing the fact other people have different interests and lives than theirs.

This is why I don't care what other people think. They can live hower they choose, but I choose to enjoy my free time as I see fit.
Its just one of my hobbies I can’t really share outside of this forum otherwise I get told to “get a life” or to “grow up.” Thats the only thing that bothers me… feels like I have to hide it from some people otherwise I won’t get the same level of respect I would get otherwise.
^^^^allllllllllllll of this.
I seriously don’t care about what most people think-regarding my perusing this life-long hobby, or just about anything else.
That being said-it’s why I try to be mindful of other folks interests on this forum. It’s where we ALL come to share our RC interests with like minded fellow nutjobs. I also try to get along with most people, but like anything else; sometimes ya just aren’t gonna mesh with every single person-and that’s fine too. Eventually maybe I will find some common ground, and we can grow from there.
I’m not always gonna “get” a certain choice in a vehicle, or buying 107 of the exact same chassis. I’ll likely never be interested in the sickest scale crawler around, or get any gratification at all from driving an uber-numb shortcourse truck. I’m not big on sending a $1000+ whip in a straight line, from A to B, back to back all morning long, and posting my top speed. It’s just not for me. But it may be the kitty’s titties for YOU. And the LAST place you oughta get judged, or even ridiculed by a FELLOW toy car nerd is RIGHT DAMMIT HERE. Period.
Not everyone gives a F about “race bashing” some ridiculously overpriced, be all-end all race vehicle either. A growing number can’t stand the smell, or sound of a screaming, modified nitro vehicle these days. A lot of folks could not care less about some nutjob flaunting, or bragging about his favorite junk coming together, post after post, with his or her detailed, and outlined tips & tricks of the platform in a hundred page long build thread.
I revel in the fact that we are our very own “Land of Misfit Toys”. We are FAMILY. Sometimes we all forget that-because being negative, or bitchy is EASY. Don’t let a few differences come between you, and someone else here that ya have FAR MORE in common with, than with some toolbag on the outside who “just doesn’t get” this wonderful hobby.
Not trying to come across as the last scene of an after school special, but take the time to support the guy that nobody else does. Try harder to get along with “that guy that runs those old vehicles, and doesn’t wanna spend shiit as everything is ridiculous”, look for things in common rather than compare & divide because it’s easier. And shoot your junk flat black BECAUSE YOU LIKE IT.
Remember-ya never know what the other guy is going through, or dealing with. One day it could be YOU on the verge of walking away altogether. THEN WHAT…
