Dad needed a push mower and I've been wanting to upgrade to something self propelled with a larger deck for a while now. So, I gave him my old one he keeps borrowing and went out excited to upgrade to something better. I wandered Home Depot for 20 minutes trying to find a cart. Cart in hand, I make my way to the lawn and garden section, park the cart, walk in front of it and I start looking at the mowers to find the one I want. While I'm looking, another customer takes the cart and walks away with it... I told them I was using that and they completely ignored me.
Dumbfounded at this point, I figured I'll just have an employee help me carry it to the front. I walk to the customer service desk, explain that someone stole the cart I was using and all the other ones in the store is full of stuff the employees are stocking. Asked them if someone could just help me carry the box to the front... she said someone would be right there. Stood there for another 15 minutes with not a soul in sight... in fact I think half the employees vanished in that very moment. I hoofed that god forsaken lawn mower to the front by myself... A 70 pound box that's almost the size of me made the walk feel like it was 6 miles long. Not only was the walk brutal, but the act of trying to get something like that into a carrying position was a struggle. Not a single person moved out of my way, offered to help, etc. Thank god there's self checkouts because I would've lost it if I had to interact with anyone at this point.
I don't know if it's something in the air lately, but my lord have I never been more annoyed with people than in the last month. I'm about to sell everything and live like it's 1872 because wondering if I've stockpiled enough firewood and rations to survive the winter is better than dealing with the general population at this point.
