SameI don't need another RC, but I want this RC!
Not with that attitudeI don't need another RC, but I want this RC!
Truggyi find it interesting that MT's are going back to low slung almost buggy based platforms.
pretty much yeah. but iv been around long enough to remember guys building monster trucks out of buggies which is where the truggy came from.Truggy![]()
Yeah, I gotcha. I don't particularly care for them calling these things Monster Trucks at all. I grew up a fan of Monster Trucks, and that's not at all what this is. But I still want onepretty much yeah. but iv been around long enough to remember guys building monster trucks out of buggies which is where the truggy came from.
idk, nitro USA-1, MRC Thunder King, Monster Pirate. flat chassis, 4wd (typically), oversized tires. that's what a monster truck was back in the day.Yeah, I gotcha. You’ve got that the wrong way around dude. People kept looking for way to make MT’s more durable, capable, and easier to work on. They gave the 1/8 MT a 1/8 buggy driveline, suspension, and chassis layout to birth the truggy… 1/8 monsterTRUCK+Buggy=Truggy. Lots of us have “been around long enough to remember”, and that’s how it went.. GS Racing, OFNA, and my buddy Rob Bender (RIP) with our very own (and my longtime friend) @SoCalTazer with their Titanium Chassis Tazer PRT (which I owned as well)…pretty much yeah. but iv been around long enough to remember guys building monster trucks out of buggies which is where the truggy came from.
that may predate what I'm talking about. the way i remember it, late 90's, pictures on the internet were rare and video didn't really exist. lots of forum talk about converting 1/8 buggies into trucks. what bodies fit, how to widen the suspension, what shocks to use, how to get more travel, what wheels/tires fit. i remember lots of lower tier basher buggies being converted into trucks. then the tmaxx happened, racing MT's became a thing, chaos ensued, forum arguments about running the converted trucks against the factory made monster trucks. next thing i remember truggys were factory made. then the Losi Muggy happened. and racing MT's seemed to loose favor. that was about the point i stopped paying attention. You’ve got that the wrong way around dude. Monster trucks have been around since the early days of surface RC once it went to off-road. Truggies came in 2004ish.

doesn't the Arrma Outcast claim the "stunt truck" title?I think my EMaxx and Summit cover the Monster Truck category pretty well (although I could be lusting after a Losi LMT or Kyosho USA-1 pretty easily).
If anything I think today's MT models are more appropriately called Stunt Trucks. That's how I think of them at least, and we all know how brilliant and logical I am!![]()
