Decided to try my hand at building a ramp big enough to take our new Kratons.
Now I am no Carpenter by any stretch of the imagination, but I can use a drill and a saw haha.
I wanted it to be portable and it had to fit in the back of a small SUV. After brainstorming for what seemed an eternity (10 mins) I came up with a plan.
In order to fit into car it would have to built in such a way it can be easily dismantled and erected, but it also had to be lite enough to carry easily and heavy enough to stay in place with some serious bashing.

This is what I came up with....

Nice.
You really do need a curve on it for a nice launch...

Well the "portable" aspect didn't work very well with the big Kratons.
Because it wasn't completely fastened down it took a bit of a beating.
So the plan is to adjust it to a 30 degree kicker and lock it down, so it is rock solid.

I tried my hand at making a kicker and it turned out pretty good I think. Although some hard testing will soon tell haha 😄

The top is 7mm ply with a 10mm bottom section, to take the main impact. Other beams are 45 x 45mm

Very nice looking ramp!

One suggestion. You might find some rubber to put on the top. The RC's will eventually start wearing out the wood. Just a 1/8" sheet laminated on there will make a world of difference.

a tip along that same line. if you want to slow wear, or need more grip on the ramp get a can of Plasti Dip and spray away. i did that on a ramp probably 10 years ago cause it had no traction. worked great (although over time it did start to peal)
That sounds like a plan.
