Anyone had issues with the Kraton 8s Battery straps?

Took it out for a bash today only to have it stop, took the body off to find that every strap had snapped on both batteries. Damage two Gens 8000mha in the process.

I am not very keen on the battery setup on it and is there any upgrade that is worth it?

RJX Hobby Kevlar/Zinc hook and loop is all you need.. More than enough to secure any 4S brick pack. Make sure they’re tighter than you think they need to be, and you’ll be fine. No slop. Slop = momentum.

These might be the way to go, thanks.

I have put in a warranty claim for the damaged batteries etc, so we will see how good Arrma warranty is.

Well they denied the warranty claim.

I intend to fight it because it is obviously a design flaw and not a fault of mine. If one strap failed, fair enough. But not a four at the same time.

What are your thoughts?

They’re battery straps on an RTR vehicle… Buy decent straps such as those listed above..

You are correct. But they all failed at once causing a $500 loss. So why should I just dismiss it. Fair enough if one strap or even two broke, but not all Four. We have only ran the cars a few times, because we have others that we use.

Where they failed and how often they failed may have been the reasoning behind the denial of your claim. I don't know. I used to frequent RCTalk's sister forum, Arrma Forum, when I got my Kraton EXB, and Vendetta. Keeping up with quality control complaints anymore isn't in the gameplan for my evenings. Perhaps others have experienced the same strap failure? I would probably stop by the Arrma dedicated forum to get a better feeling of known issues with a particular RC platform.

Thanks for replying.
I have asked on their forum.

In relation to the failure, every strap has snapped at the the base, just above the battery holder.
After purchasing 2 x Kraton 8s, 2 x Mojave 6s and 2 x Notorious v6, plus hundreds in parts over the last couple of months, I am now wondering if I have made the right choice.

This is not normal wear and tear.

I'm new to this thread but holy cow! Never had any issues with my typhon 6s battery strap while just in the first few runs of testing it.
Could it be the batteries you're running? if they're too big, long or tall for the battery compartment???
What I would do is get heavier duty velcro like mentioned above, AND use either double sided tape or strong velcro patches under the battery to the battery tray for extra protection just in case.
But like said ideally no one has ever broken multiple battery straps before... I sure haven't, unless it was rubber ones like what come in 1/10 race kits depending on design... 🤷‍♂️

And if it was a major design flaw, horizon would redesign it if they got enough complaints/emails about it so... I'm sorry about saying this but could it be just you? Could it be how either how tight or too loose you tighten the strap?

This what I mean, this is not a normal occurrence and is a fault with the straps. Which should be covered by warranty. Each strap has snapped at the exact same place.
The batteries are not the issue, they fit perfectly.

I knew some people who ran faulty radiolink and dumbo rx/tx systems and caused over 2k in carbon fiber speed run chassis and parts. all due because of a simple firmware bug that radiolink denied the cause and to fix it leaving the customer stranded and blamed for what was not their fault. (I have personal experience with this, same as with @CJSRCLIFE )

In this case, COULD be HORIZON themselves as they had been going overboard in terms of product quality and support over the last 5+ years. (ProLine QC issues, leaving TLR Pro drivers stranded with 0 support and no new parts/kits, parts supply/stock issues, ruining over brands like PL, AKA, Dynamite, Onyx, Trinity, Duratrax, ect. Arrma themselves have been pretty good in recent years imo but it is horizon, you may never know what could happen next) I'm just surprised as they deny you from warranty claim. Looks like my homemade list of why Horizon Hobby sucks just keeps getting longer and longer each day.

Thanks for mentioning me, I had these issues that made sell my RC8X also when the first iXSR came out it made me switch to Spektrum with my DX6C which has served me well for almost a year while i still save up and wait for the next iXSR model to come out. Which according to Horizon it's now pushed back to November 2025.

I will not let t his go. As I have said, if it was because of me, I would cop it. I understand fully that poop breaks. But it is clearly a product fault, which should be covered.
Here in Australia we have Consumer Protection laws, so if they don't replace the damaged stuff, I will lodge a complaint.

The batteries are not the issue, they fit perfectly.
What about the weight of the batteries tho.
Stock is what 2x 4s 5000s right?
And now you are running 2x 4s 8000s?
If so that's added weight right there because of what +3000mah per pack? once you land the battery can get some air, the mass of the batteries can break the strap... That is the only possible logical reason on why you broke multiple straps.

So you are denying that it is not a OE (Operator Error) and not understanding the physics of battery mass compared how much a velcro strap can hold/load? Like said above in my most recent post that is the only possible logical reason I have thought about.
