did you ever think you'd see leaf springs on a solid axle monster truck? (ok, other than the Tamiya Juggernaut)
straight 1990, i can hear Army Armstrong in my head just watching the video. i have a feeling it will be unreasonably expensive. but damn is it cool! unreasonable expense pending i might have to build one.

Freestyle RC Axis was/is a retro class killer on leaf springs. Also unreasonably expensive. There's no telling whether they'll ever make them again. When the company was active, it took months to a year just to get a chassis done. They were more a boutique chassis...the JC offering is somewhat more mainstream though the price tag will surely pull it back into the "boutique" world lol.

I hate that they redesigned clod style axles for this...what a miss.

the solid axle monster truck guys still do a lot with brushed motors. when the motors are mounted on the axle you have to run one backwards. and there aren't a lot of brushless ESC's that can run duel motors.
I’ve seen some wild dual ESC setups. Although that’s def not necessary or legal in retro classes this truck would run in.

Eh, it's an extremely niche product, and limited production. It's a bit over-priced, but not terribly IMHO. There's always the Losi LMT II for those that don't want a boutique brand. I mean 8 good 1/8 scale (which I assume this is) shocks can run you over $200 alone.

I figured around 500 bucks, so not too suprised. Definitely not running out to buy one though as thats $750 ish cad 😑

considering it doesn't come with wheels/tires or body i figured it would be in the $360-$380 range.
but $560 + $100 for wheels/tires + $40 for a body = $700 (plus tax!) and all you've got is a roller.
Still cheaper than the "super limited" TLR tuned LMTs which you can still find rotting away in local hobby shops

Also...we're talking about a company who sells this for $300:

The Reactor is way too much money for what looks like my dog ate the spare parts bin and puked it all out on some newly designed clod axles.

Also, we have to stop calling this stuff "limited" ...companies spend way too much money on tooling to produce something once. It makes for good marketing but let's not be silly...they may be released in "limited" batches...but there will be plenty of them.

I was heavy into the solid axle monster racing scene and those guys spend some serious money to compete. The reality of it is that this was made for them and nobody else...

Woah, I forgot about that.

You aren't kidding!

Man I would hate to be sitting on a bunch of these.

I know things have gone up but that truck is more than what I paid for my GD LMT 1.0 RTR.
I want to say it was around $799 CDN when I purchased it around 2023.

You still need a body (Losi GD ones are over $100 CDN), electronics, wheels and tires.

I suppose if I look at both of these through the eyes of a racer.. I paid an eye watering amount for my Kyosho RB6 back in the day so I can understand it through that lens.

The Kyosho part makes sense. 😉👍🤣

Oh wow, I somehow missed this whole thread. I actually just finished building a Losi TLR LMT and I thought that was overpriced. For what you get with the Reactor, I dont think that price is bad. That rig has a lot going on, and if 1/10 monster trucks are your thing, I think it's worth it. People spend $$$$$ on upgrading Clodbusters, so this will fill that spot.
