hey , .guy's. been away for a little while but I am back. summit and slash still running strong. I have been looking at the 8s arrma outcast exb. I like the pick-up truck body on it and the flares on the wheel wells. really serious about picking up one. looks tough and performes to my liking. will probably change the tires to a wider set. what do you fellers think about it? what hop-ups would y'all recommend for it. I will baby this truck driving wise. thanks again.

I have that truck and its fun for jumping big air and doing flips. Its not fun to just drive around. The wheelbase is too short to be very stable driving offroad. Its either in a wheelie or doing flips. Not much of an in-between. I like it because of that but its not for everyone.

Its big and very heavy. Around 30lbs . The chassis plate may as well be aluminum foil and won't hold true very long. The M2C replacement chassis has held up really well though.

The pillow ball type knuckles are finicky and require frequent adjustments. The control arms break a lot so you'll get lots of practice at adj pillowballs.

The factory soektrum stuff is weak in that heavy beast. I went with the Castle Creations 1100kv and the XLX2 esc. Really wakes it up. Got it up over 80mph a few times.

Its fun at the skatepark but not much good for anything else. Just my humble opinion.

wow , I didn't know about all that about the outcast! maybe the kraton 8s would be a better choice? I just don't like the truggy body look. I know this is a silly question but can I put a pick-up truck body on the kraton? also can I get some different tires on the kraton? thanks for the info bud.

I don't mind the kraton stock body but in the future I will eventually want a pick-up truck body on it. the kraton seems to have a longer wheelbase , I like that.

will the outcast body fit on the kraton? sorry for all the questions. i'm not an extreme basher but I do have fun. I really don't have an extreme basher. I want one tho. thx for the help! ! ! I'm just trying to figure out which truck will be the best for me , like I said , i'm not an extreme basher. I bash at our local park which has a couple of hills to climb and jump from and some excellent flat ground too. I have fun with my slash there but i'm ready to jump up to the big time. might do the trade up program from Traxxas on my slash to get started on brushless power. thanks mrgoodwrench35 for all of your help and advice! BTW , how many rc's do you own and may I ask what are they? I just have my 2wd brushed slash and my stock summit.

I drive my summit at my favorite hiking trail and a creek loaded with rocks and sidehill embankments. the hiking trail is about 10 minute drive from my house.

I have 30 or so. A lot of duplicates. My RC buddy is my wife so when I get one and she likes it, she gets one too.

8s Arrma Outcast
8s Traxxas Xmaxx (my favorite)
6s Arrma Kraton
6s Arrma Notorious
6s Traxxas Sledge
2 stroke Losi DBXL
2 3s Arrma sentons
3s 4x4 Traxxas Slash
3s Arrma Mojave Grom
2 Losi Nascar Groms
4 Traxxas TRX4's of various flavors
3s Axial Capra
3s Vanquish VS4 10
6s Arrma Infraction
1/18 Axial Capra
3s Traxxas 4tec
3s Traxxas 2wd Stampede
3s Team Associated MT10
2 FMS 1/18 crawlers
2 Redcat Ascent Apex 18's
2 Axial SCX 30's
2 Kyosho mini Z's
2 Chinese knockoffs of Kyosho minis that work better than the Kyosho's
Kyosho fazer mk2 Dodge Charger

I think thats more than 30, and I think I forgot about few. I also have a few drones for racing and arial photography.

I'm sure there is a truck body that would fit the Kraton. Not something I've looked into really but theres a big variety of options. Just look for something with the same wheelbase.

Honestly, if I were you, Id look at 6s rigs first. Or The Xmaxx. Going from 1/10 scale to 1/5 is a big jump. The parts are a lot more expensive and the larger scale is far less forgiving. Meaning they break easier.

If you like the Outcast, look at the 6s Arrma Notorious. Very similar but the 6s is 1/8 scale.

wow man , you have a lot of rc's! I bet you have modified them all in some way or another. 6s notorious , huh? i'll check it out. thanks again bud.
I dont think I have a single one thats stock. I just can't leave stuff alone.

what is dig in rc crawlers mean? looking at crawlers. not getting one , just keep hearing the word dig when I watch a video on them. I will get one later down the road but first comes the 4x4 basher.

Its the ability of the transfer case to lock the rear axle but let the front continue to drive. It helps in situations where you need tighter turning radius or just want the front to climb without the back end pushing. The latter can also be achieved with overdrive meaning you have a faster front gear ratio than the rear.

hey mrgoodwrench35 , on your 3s 2wd stampede did you do any modifications to that truck? I was curious about the brushless 4x4 stampede. I was planning on using rpm front and back aarms , aluminum front caster blocks and chubs , aluminum rear hub carriers, aluminum threaded shocks with aluminum caps , bigger tires , different truck body , better bearings , aluminum steering , maybe aluminum front and rear shock towers , maybe change the gear ratio to compensate for the bigger tires. i'm just weighing out all of my options before I make a decision. also steel driveshafts all the way around. IDK what power system to use in it. need help in that department as well as the gearing. like I said , i'm weighing out all of my options. this will be my first brushless and lipo powered truck. so would it be better to go this route or buy one of the arrma trucks?

The 4x4 stampede is a blast. Its 1/10 scale and the factory 3s brushless system isn't bad.

For a little more money the traxxas maxx is another good 1/10 option. Arrma has a 4x4 granite in 1/10 but I think its a lesser machine compared to the aforementioned traxxas models.

I thought you wanted something bigger than 1/10 scale?

You'll also need a lipo specific charger.

I do want something bigger than 1/10th scale. I'm looking at the money part of it now. so what do you guy's think about the hopped up stampede I just mentioned?

I think its gonna be $$$$ for a truck that I assume you'll be bashing. Bigger tires will put more stress on all the drivetrain, shafts, bearings and suspension.

The RPM arms are a good idea.
I recommend upgrading as you go, as you need to replace worn or broken parts.

The Granite223 has wider arms than the BLX version. Its a better handling truck. I recently upgraded my BLX to 223 and its WAY better.
I can't say for how long but right now, I like the Granite. I was NOT a fan of the BLX set up.
I upgraded the steering and suspension all at the same time with parts from Jennysrc.com. My stock parts were WELL worn out!
I am not a skatepark basher but this truck has seen a few abrupt stops on a tree root or a cartwheel tumble because I'm a PRO an I MEANT to do that!!! 😲🙄🤣
Its a tough truck. Never broke an arm or tower.
If you buy one of these, I recommend you buy it to run it, not to bling it.

I have heard great things about the Rival MT10 and 8. Ppl love their Teknos too.
If you are thinking of putting $$$'s in upgrades into a Traxxas, I recommend looking at a nicer platform to start.

I am a huge Kyosho fan. I have a Mad Wagon or 2 in boxes waiting for parts to arrive. I am excited to deliver a full report! 😁
The Mad Wagon is a 3s truck that uses parts from the Inferno Neo line (can change slipper to center diff).
I've seen vids of it on 4s too!!! 🤯🤣
Buy the builders kit if you go this route! It comes with tons of upgrades right out of the box. 😉

Lots of options out there! 😎👍
