If I recall, parts availability was the big issue with these cars.
One thing that may be better this go-round. Especially when the racing guys start doing spec race classes with them. One thing with RC back when these vintage cars were out was there was no internet.

I might think about this one... if the parts support actually comes thru.
I'm used to belt drives. It would run as an indoor carpet car anyway.
I suck at driving but I'm a damned good crasher and BOY can I change A-arms fast now!
Seriously, I do need practice and I'm gonna break stuff.
I LIKE modding my race cars and making them fast, so PARTS!!! Pretty please?!

Internet, 3D printing and online machining make the impossible very possible with rc!
I am exceptionally hopeful for a strong retro-class following. The re-re's lately have all been dream kits!

Looks like the Yokomo 870C rere with a different body kit and maybe some other minor changes.

I don’t think Yokomo will do it but a ’94 YZ-10 I’d grab in a heartbeat. A Works ’93 or Pavidis ’95 would also scratch the itch.

I like revisiting yesteryear RCs and all the re-re kits from back then. Definitely would make my hoarding sickness kick back in if I bought one. The first place my eyes go... the tires. Some of my favorite rubber from back in the day. Not sure if Hot Laps were the same as 6822/TQ22 tires, but if I still had my buggy, I'd be buying boat loads of them things.

Buggy bodies and tires were so cool back then!
Truth. The Optima Mid and ’94 YZ-10 are the best-looking RC cars of any era or type that I can think of.

The current ones would look a lot better with the cabs even a little further back. A Leadfinger or Raw Speed body on a B74.2 is already a huge improvement.

Sadly the current chassis layout (as designed by Xray and copied by TLR, Yokomo, PR, LC, and Team Associated) dictates the body to be wider in the front than they used to be. And it works too well to change in my opinion. I regret selling my YZ-10 in the late ’90s but I don’t miss lopping off the mounting brackets and using double-sided tape to secure the servo to the chassis.

I used to race the OG Yokomo, and Super DogFighter back in the mid-late 80’s lol.. My track carried everything for ‘em too..

I have had 1 bad time with Associated parts. I thought it was poor communication and perhaps that I was looking for a $.03 o-ring for my old RC10.
I see Associated legal threats posted lately about copyright infringment or whatever they are saying... my point is that if I can't order an o-ring from Associated for an OG RC10 (without a month of bullshot and a picture of the Gorgon I bought because I thought their service sucked, so no mt10) why should I buy this kit from them?
I really don't know what to think about Associated.
They used to make good stuff and stand behind it. Now it feels like they are bolstering sales with old kits but if you REALLY want to run Associated, you gotta buy the "new" one and it will have 5 years of parts support. Then its time to move to the next platform etc etc...
IF Associated really is trying to push aftermarket off the map and make them the ONLY place that I can buy a part, I have to say "NO".
I want a car that will outperform me and hopefully the folks on either side of me.
I don't need a flashy paint job or the newest esc fan because it weighs .02 grams less than last years model.
Have we learned nothing from "the great wide-screen scams" a few years back?
Lol!
Durability. I'm gonna crash. So are other ppl. Into me. I've seen it! Lol!
Things break. I think there might even be a commercial on tv to that effect?
I NEED RPM ARMS!!! LOL!!!
I want a damned car that I can love to race again! I don't want to EVER feel "corporate friction" with this hobby.
Traxxas kind of blew it with me in that respect. My cars still fly and I do love them but the company that built them can go to hell.

I REALLY hope Associated and Yokomo take the opportunity to give SOME good parts support to SOME good retro/re-re models. If ppl are buying parts, what difference does the kit make?

I recognize that I am not exactly "in the loop" but does this make sense to anyone else? Does parts coverage sway your purchases for a kit like this?
(Yes, I would put it on an indoor carpet track and attempt to race it)

Totally agree with all the comments. As a kid, during that time, no way I could afford a Yokomo or Koyosho Razor (spelling?) for that matter. You know, the belt driven 4x's. But lusted for sure. Plus the modified motors and bigger batts. Nope. I mowed too many lawns to afford my stock JRXT.

But really? $470? Can you also bring back 1990's pricing too?

Yes. To me. If I can't find parts, I'm not buying.

Case in point Losi jrx2. Somehow the wife managed to totally destroy it. And the parts are on back order. If they even exist. Who knows? These retro kits are a bit suspect to me when it comes to replacement parts. But that's just me.

My team AE Pro4? Yes. Totally avail.

It's almost like you have to analyze parts for the kit you buy and just cover yourself right then and there. A good hobby shop works too. But they are also hard to find. At least where I live.

The companies can be faulted for many things but if you adjust for inflation the prices of the rereleased classics are not that far from the prices back then.

150 USD from 1990 is about 360 USD now.

Yeah, you can argue that all you want. Still. Like really?!

I'll give you 250 tops. Rolling kit. Maybe 300 if you assemble it for me. That's where I'm at.

Feel free to disagree.

I think it's cool that all of these nostalgia kits are coming out. They are meant for the oldtimers, not the young bucks. They have emotional attachment for the folks who used to have one or always wanted one.
I appreciate the effort these companies are making. If you want the latest technology these are not the rigs for you. You don't have to love every rc that comes out, buy what you like and be happy.

As a side note, I wasn't in the rc game back in the day, pretty new to RC's myself, but I can still appreciate these.
