That’s what they do with out support there.
It had supports. Just not enough in the areas hanging over the flat top.

I was working on a v2 but the more I look at it on the truck, the less I like it. It makes it look too much like an over accessorized Jeep tank. I don't plan on putting any ducks on the dash, so I may scrap it and go with a flat top or no top at all.

I hate ducks........but I'm really loving your build.

Long time jeep guy

The duck thing with jeep people sounds kinda…. Dumb?

I had to look it up. So if you like someone's Jeep, you put a rubber duck on it? 🤔😝

Scrapped the roof scoop and went black.
Finished the half doors.
Designed, printed, installed a simple rear rack to strap some gear to.

We’re going into heavy birthday and holiday season so it may be a hot minute before I source a VS4-10 kit but I’ll keep accessorizing and changing things until then! 😂

Amazing.
Those kits are about $300, not too bad really. You just need the chassis, axles, transmission, and links? Save up!

I’m going to do the portal kit so, $400.
Add the $250ish for electronics, $100ish for wheels/tires, include the $70 I spent on hardware and the $40 I spent on filament and we’re almost at $900.

It’s not so much about not having the money as much as it is about not wanting to spend it on myself with the holidays coming.

I’ll start sourcing stuff here and there. It’s just going to be a while before it’s done done.

I get it, I really do.
What are you doing for electronics? You could do the fusion pro for about half of that, or a sequre setup for just over half?

I’ll probably stick with the Sequre silent ESC and 1800kv outrunner plus the Amazon 45kg HV servo I’ve been having a lot of luck with.

The electronics price estimate I gave is figuring in motor/ESC, servo, and receiver because I’ve run out of spare receivers lol.

Shelf queen in all her glory.

Today, I'm going to get a clean print of the Rubicon style hood. I'll probably print some accessories for the rear storage tray, and I need to make a lap belt for the passenger seat because my gorilla fingers refuse to build another 5-point.

After 3 tries, I was finally able to get a clean print. I hate brims…but it needed a brim to hold it firm and prevent the layer shift at the top of the print.

Still have to mount it up but I love it so far.
