I wasn’t ready for just how sick this thing is….

Still have a punch out list to complete before a test drive…I don’t even want to drive it. It’s beautiful.

Once I finish her up, I’ll post more detailed pics and some glam shots after its maiden voyage.

I am STOKED. Literally surprised myself with how great this turned out.
Absolutely fantastic! Well done. can't wait to see the glam shots! 😃👍

I'm ALMOST ready for a test drive!

I'm waiting for a battery connector to be delivered from Amazon before I can solder it into the harness I created for the LEDs. I'm going to run the LEDs off a single 9V battery hidden in the engine compartment. In case you're wondering: YES, I hand wired and soldered twelve 5mm LEDs and six 3mm LEDs. By the time I looked down and realized what a pain it was, I was a few hours in and past the point of no return. This is pretty much exactly why I never put lights in my stuff lol.

Under the hood. You can see my headlights wiring job. The wiring from the taillights run through the truck and were tied into a harness up here where I will connect them all to a 9V battery. The 3S flight packs I run in my crawlers fit perfectly in the small battery tray.

Front seat. Tuck those wires under the seat!

Back seat. Fusion's power button mounted to the back of the driver's seat.

Some of Amazon's finest wares making up the drive train and suspension under this porker. It all went together shockingly nice. Lots of metal and I know I'm missing Loctite in a few places...we'll find it later...when we lose screws on the trail.

Sick! Might have to add some rocket launchers! lol

You know what else it's very similar to:

I forgot this was a thing until I saw one pop up on marketplace the other day. Thought to myself, "dang...could have just bought a traxxas body....nahhhh"
I wanted 1 of those when I first started looking at crawlers, but then discovered it was discontinued. Guess I should've got into crawling a few years ago

What are the #s for on the underside? Size screws for those areas?

Yep. The designer implemented that in several areas throughout the build and it is pretty handy. Ugly to look at…but handy lol.

Just spent my lunch buttoning everything up. The truck is finished. Done. Complete!

I had to get crafty for my 9 volt battery install. Dismantled the Amazon connector and soldered the individual connectors straight to my lights' wiring harness.

I then needed a mounting solution, so I hit up Tinkercad and banged out a tray to fit between the chassis rails under the hood. I gorilla taped the battery in place and hooked her up...perfect.

Once that was done, I calibrated the Fusion, centered the servo, and gave her the beans. No bugs so far! The Amazon drivetrain is surprisingly smooth. Ran it around the garage a little bit and it scoots. The tiny 3S will probably not last very long in a trail scenario due to the weight and velocity of this beast...but we'll see. It's currently snowing sideways outside (after being 80 degrees yesterday) so I'm unsure of when I'll get it out for its real maiden trip. 😥

Size comparison next to my standard wheelbase VRD. The MK1 makes the VRD look like a mini:

Get some liquid tape on that nine volt connector. I'll feel better. The pair of your 3d printed rigs together are so drool worthy! 😍 😍 😍
What's a tactical attack vehicle without a little fire power!?

Sooo I programmed the Fusion to have 60% drag brake at 60% power. My typical starting point for a crawler setup.

First time I ripped the throttle with the monster tires turned the truck into a coffee grinder when I let off and the drag brake kicked in.
I thought it may have been the spur, so I took the trans out and everything is solid there. Further inspected and found the ring and pinion in the rear end is toast. 🤣

Now, to figure out which hardened gears fit in these Amazonian axles.

Took the rear end apart yesterday and was pleasantly surprised to find the teeth in fine shape. I was also surprised to find spiral cut gears...

What was grinding? The ring gear came loose from the locker (screws backed out) and that was causing the grinding sounds. I knew better than to run aluminum Amazonian axles without loctiting everything. She's back together and runs fine again! Ready for a trail rip.

I had the same thing happen on my Ford 8.8 after swapping in 3.73 gears in my Fox. You're supposed to do heat cycles to break them in gradually on 1:1 gears, and retorque afterwards. But I was 65 miles from home at my brother's and after the initial heat cycle I got an emergency call from home and drove all the way breaking the sound barrier. Yup... cooked em. But yeah, it had a weird whirring kinda noise that was caused by two bolts right next to each other ever so slightly backing off.
