I have to wait for the credit card to cool back down, I have my sights set on the furitek tegu, haven't decided on the motor yet. I wanted to confer with @Pat_ranch before I make a decision though.

Not trying to hijack your thread but this is very cool and I am most definitely going to do this mod.

Yeah, that is on my list of upgrades. The Teko combo kit should be out this month.

Pat likes the Surpass Hobby motors from what I have read.

I've never researched the 24s but have started the day or two. Getting more and more interested in them.
Warning: These are the most addicting rc's I have ever owned!

Oh, and if we were all sitting out in the garage while building this, hanging out, shootin the 💩, some off topic discussion would be no prob. So pull up a chair, grab a brewsky, and hijack away. Topic of the day is RC stuff 😉

After my last micro, I swore Id never own another one but not only did I buy one of these, I'm contemplating buying a second one to modify the crap out of. First though I need some Manfrotto camera mounting gear. That will be my next purchase.

Just be ready for some tiny screws!
Dropping down from HO scale to N scale railroad is quite eye squinting to see those little guy's.
I keep my tiny screw drivers magnetized with an old speaker sitting on my bench. Also works wonders holding extra screws.

N scale was what I modeled in. Loved it. If you can work on 1/160 scale, 1/24 will be a breeze.

After 30 years of handling large quantities of paper daily, My fingers are very dry, and I have worn most of my finger prints down to non existent, great for crime, but lousy for getting a hold of small objects, not much traction. 🤣

Little update. Got a couple more layers done. Two layers down from the top and everything is glued. I wasn't going to glue all of it yet, but I figured if I need to make changes my hot knife is long enough to make a hole. The tunnel is roughed in, but will set about 3 levels higher. And the rockin bridge is going to actually be just on the edge of this table. That is the only place I could balance it 😉

Man, it's really looking awesome Wicked. Just another thing I used to do on my train layout is the paint I used was just cheap water based paint in flat colors. White, brown, black, grey and tan. Instead of those pain in the arse lids on a metal paint can, I poured the paint in glass canning jars. So much easier to work with.
I really want a couple 24s now and I can definitely make room for a crawler course.
What is the exact width of the 24s at the wheels?

This is with a 10mm wider track with with the Treal hubs.

Perfect thanks. The reason I asked is I have about 6000 popsicle sticks in the shop, I use them for my popsicle stick models I build, and they just might work for a rope bridge.

That is about the scale, but they might be just a little short (I think). I think I looked at popsicle sticks. I had one of those random grab bags of basswood and balsa wood that I think I got at Menards, so I used wood from it. The thickness and width is probably the same as popsicle sticks though except for the wider ones I threw in there.

This guy has a similar problem

I've got enough of them, I could glue them up for more length. Good gawd, looks like I projects in my near future...

I've also thought about selling all of my train stuff but shipping would kill me.
I know there is big money in model trains.

I am glad my little project (HAHA) has inspired you man. It is hard to kick that scratch build bug once it takes hold. But it's ok. Your X-Maxx won't be taking up near enough of your time 😉
