Well, all the idiots rushed to the grocery stores and cleaned it out of milk, hotdogs, brats, pork, beef, eggs, etc. Like hey dumbasses - it's just snow. Not the apocalypse.

Add bread to that. Whole bread section was empty. None. Clear.

Also were out of burgers so we just had to get normal ground beef. Don't have buns but I guess wheat bread or English muffins can work

Jokes aside, yall are dealing with humidity and wind on top of your deep freeze. Our infrastructure is also built for the sustained low temps... my house is double roofed, 2x6 construction and triple pane windows throughout. Fuel oil boilers are also a lot more reliable at really cold temps compared to gas. All my vehicles also have way more than just a block heater on them. You guy have it a lot worse than I do when the temps dip into the negatives. I just like complaining.

For reference, -22f is -30c @ -40f it's -40c which it was overnight

We talk about it and believe me, it gets to me now too! We often ask ourselves why we live here.

But my in-laws moved here a few years ago and as all the parental units age it'll just make it more difficult if we have to travel back.
We also have my handicapped sister in-law that has to factor into or decisions.

We've traveled to the Caribbean and BC a few times; everything feels magical around the ocean. I was sick when we went to Cuba, I was better in two days. It was amazing!

That I can understand for sure. I have allergies, and moved to south TX for a while. For the first year, zero allergy issues. But boy when they kicked in they made up for lost time. LOL And stuff blooms there year round, so no reprieve any time of year. Same with mosquitos (the state bird) fire ants, and bees, etc. You battle with them year round. I'd love to live near an ocean, or more likely the gulf. Our bank account says if we sell our place here, then we can move there and live comfortably for about 27 minutes.

This is less than a 30 minute drive and a 15 minute dirt bike ride from my house and I live smack dab in the middle of the second largest city in my state… I’ll bear the cold winters to get this view and 24 hours of sunlight every summer (this picture was taken at like 10pm). I couldn’t ever imagine moving away from this place…

I get it. I live in the mountains, but when I went out to WY, it was the most beautiful place I've ever been. I looked into moving there, then saw the average winter weather, and how long winter lasts. Nah, I'm good here in the south. I think it's a psychological thing for me, the ground being white and frozen for months just ain't my thing. I like being outside, a love wearing shorts and warm weather.

Your bank account gives you about seven more minutes than we could get at the coast.
I wish we could live at the coast, we try to make one trip every year, and it always hurts when we have to come back. I love the ocean.
