I can’t believe how fast this project has come along. Still tons to do but I’m pleased with the work the boys have gotten done so far. I guess my winter project will be rebuilding the four other rigs I stripped.

wheels and shocks are in the mail and They are going to paint the body this weekend.
Lol. Love them carrying the rattle can! That is great stuff man. And the truck is fantastic!

Got the front bumper all set up in a jig. Ready to braze.
This bumper is also a winch line guide. It’s made out of break line and some scrap steel.
Surprisingly strong and also protects the servo arm.

The bumper came out really well. I used an aluminum SCX10ii bumper bracket as a jig.
I drilled all the holes then carved the bracket shape after the two pieces are drilled. I bolted the two pieces together and used a file and grinder so they are exactly the same size and shape.
The bars are just brake line. I cut the ends to length with a Dremel after it was done.
Then I use a sharpie for paint. It dries instantly and touch up is easy. No paint can stand up to the rocks. So this work for me.

I like it. I love these old ford bodies too. I've seen em popping up in a lot of builds lately
I am actually using an old Ford body for my 24 6x6 build 😉

Made one for the wreckers. This was much easier than I thought. I drilled holes in the top and bottom of the point and used a hack saw to make the slot. Then files it to the width of the pulley. The pulleys axle is a little wider and it just snapped into place.
I will eventually get a winch servo that has an internal spool.

Got out on some rocks today. OMG this is a BEAST !!!
I t just runs over my little sissy rock garden.

But I want to start tuning. I have the recommended 10 tooth pinion and it seems a little slow. I spent most of the day figuring out gearing.
I have 10-13 tooth pinions so I went to the 13 tooth pinion. Then I reprogrammed the MambaX and learned the throttle.

It is just so good.

I got the 4x4 wrecker finished and the 6x6 is also pretty much finished. Need to buy two internal winch servos. So that will have to wait.

But this first one is mounted. It uses plastic screws to hold it down. If it tumbles the rig will snap off.

Dude that's a awesome build well done. Those guys really get some work done old school for the win. Waiting for parts is the worst lately.. always waiting to get parts.

Looks great, is the chassis frame on the wall new or has that been there?
That TVP chassis has been there. I tried to make a comp rig out of that. No way to get the geometry right without motor on axle. And even then it’s really odd.
