so i drove it around a little, the tires rub a LOT, gotta figure something out, may have to swap tires out, the 2.2's on the wraith fit with no rubbing... i may have to run a seperate set in the back,

I hate when something looks so right but doesn't quite work.

Multiple tire swaps amd 2 states later i think this will work
Took the tires off the wraith put them on the bison
Took the wheels off the bison put them on the ryft
Put the ryft tires on the wraith

The tires on it currently are knock off tires tires according to the writing lol
But they fit amd i can't wait to hit a trail with them and see the difference
I'm going to pack the factory tires as well so I can see a tual comparisons.

got some time to tinker and got some mail in
pretty stoked, got in the first of the brass orders, may have to wait a bit to order the rest tho christmas is getting scarily close!!!
so far we have upgraded the wheels and tires, rear tires need work i didnt account on the closeness of the rear axles and the chonky thompsons rubbed so we threw a generic set on that fit.

today i added some brass
Upgrade brass hub set for EMO X series trucks. Set adds 3.7 ounces.
Upgrade brass front portal housing. Adds 6.2 ounces.

i took a peak at the front diff while i was there, it had a little bit of grease, but not much and we all know i love the change to play with my marine grease lol
this time its apple flavored!!

it was really wasy to wrench on, no issues as of yet, manual haswnt been needed its all just gone together well.

1: remove both driveshafts
2: lower gearbox plate screws
3:top gearbox brace screws
4: side mount screws!!!!!
5: finally free the gearbox
6: swap motor replace new pinion. went with Robinson Racing Xtra Hard 5mm 0.8 Mod Pinion Gear 14T
7: set mesh!!!
8: reinstall

man... its normally so much easier lol
remove these 4 screws, drop the trans remove the motor reverse. done
now i gotta remove this to get to that so i can remove this so that is accesible lol
good times. I'm so excited to see the difference.

got the rear portals brass'd up
one set still to go, i decided to put the brass on the rearmost to try to help with sidehilling, and maybe keep my butt planted a little more

man those pics make it look like my gears are ground down but thats just the angle. i took them apart again to double check after posting lol
So no more twerking from the rear end? 🤔 😜
only if someones throwin singles lol

when i last took the bison out i thought i had stripped the spur gear, i ordered new gears, got 2 of the 3 available due to my driving style and the frequency that i need to repair things.
turns out the grub had just come loose.
took the gearbox off tightened the grub down again with locktite and its good to go again. i should have left it off as I'm ordering a new pinion for it to drop it down a gear anyways
its a real pita to get the gears dropped down a bit going to an 11t thinking about possibly a 10 so i can pull stuff a little betterer

i swapped the rear shocks out for a set of 90mm desert lizards. my goal was to reduce the articulation and flex of the bed. anytime i tried to climb an obstacle with the stock shocks it would roll the bed and pull me over sideways. with these shorter shocks i lost a LOT of flex, and articulation, but GAINED stability when having the rack loaded on the bed. it worked exactly as planned.
going to try to get it outside to make avideo.

so i split the small pin that holds the wheel hex on the axle stub. the pin goes straight thru the axle... i broke it into 3 parts!!!

never underestimate my willingness to break things...
also lost my rear diff locker, not sure yet if its a servo burnt out or something worse. it just wont shift back into open diffs. not that i really mind,
but i DO want it repaired eventually. the wheels back on is the first repair tho lol
landed a SWEET jump tho, flew a good 3 feet before we crashed down HARD lol threw batteries, water and snacks all over the place. twas much much fun lol

the creek is what busted the hex tho, its in a video in a different post, no reason to post it again, if you dig long contecnt poorly recorded videos, go check out the btc26 post, i put a few videos in there, one of which was the BRUTAL creek run.
