well... guess who has 2 thumbs and a 6x6?? if you guessed this guy you're absolutely correct!
i picked up a cross bison xl 6x6, but I'm sure you guessed that from the title.
i got a btc discount and picked it up for 500 brand new. its not got the aftermarket support that the other big brands has yet, which is lame. but it has some and more coming out (according to knk hobbies)
its an 8th scale which was a BIG reason i chose it over say a traxxas mercedes, i likes em big o_Oo_Oo_O
the transmitter has i think 12 switches!!!! allowing me to lock or unlock each diff allegedly, I've kept em all locked so i couldnt honestly tell you on that as of now, still gotts to learn about the switches
it has a full light kit, with high/low beams, brake lights, red and blue berries in the grill, it will strobe effect and also i guess a hazard setting? its a slower flash than the strobe effect. it has a horn as well as a weak motor sound when you hold a button down,
I'm going to slap a HW quickrun in it asap, i do love that foc.
its going to get a few upgrades as i go, I'm looking at
motor, shocks, wheels & tires, stronger steering servo, (i dont htink ill need a stronger shift servo)

The EMO XL is built for six-wheel drive performance. it runs a portal axle drivetrain with a dual-reverse portal axle setup as its foundation. front and rear diff locks are independently controlled (the rear duals lock together), and it’s got a dual-speed all-metal transmission that can handle both high-torque crawling and higher-speed trail runs.
the third axle uses a suspension system that mixes aerospace aluminum with fiber composite, keeping it light but strong. that design helps keep the rear end stable and protected when you’re tackling steep climbs or rough terrain.

the 1/8 EMO platform has gone through three generations of updates, and it shows. the EMO XL runs a metal gear reverse transmission with a CNC aluminum motor mount for better heat dissipation. the gears are a mix of machined and MIM parts, so they’re strong, quiet, and long-lasting.

everything spins on ABEC3 bearings for smooth operation and less maintenance. suspension rods are 7mm stainless steel, so they won’t rust and help keep the center of gravity low. the rod ends are larger and reinforced, giving them a lot more strength when things get rough.

the 21mm CNC shocks are vacuum-plated and pre-filled with 350CST oil from the factory, already properly vented. they’ve got a nice balance of support and flexibility, soaking up hits without feeling too soft. the main frame rails are reinforced to handle high loads and power upgrades without bending or twisting.

the portal axles are made from high-performance weather-resistant nylon, so they hold up even in cold conditions. the rear balance linkage is the second-generation version from the EMOX Rhinoceros, designed to control body roll at higher speeds without messing with shock performance.
it’s running the same all-terrain tires from the EMO X3, which have a great balance of traction and durability. lighting is fully integrated with a high-power LED setup and grille warning lights, all controllable from the transmitter.
electronics are built on a 7.4v high-voltage system, handling shifting and diff-lock control through servos. power comes from a Hobbywing 4S 880 ESC and a high-torque 560 brushed motor. if you want to upgrade later to stronger servos or a better radio system, the setup is already capable of supporting it.

The Bison Packed the batteries and drinks around for us
I need to find a box with compartments and a lid tho. I had to stop and pick batteries up sooooo many times
But it was cool regardless

Looks sooo cool. I want one.

i swapped the wheels out for some of my weighted rims, i dont have any 2.2's lying around since i only have 2 that use that size and only have the 2 sets. 1.9?? i have like 12 sets lol, so it sits a little lower than id like but i have some nice rims and tires in a cart ill be able to start ordering in a few weeks.
i want the hobbywing fusion8 SE motor and can't find it anywhere but from a guy in italy on ebay, its a much lower kv and more my speed with what i do with my trucks.
https://www.hobbywingdirect.com/collections/quicrun-fusion-system/products/quicrun-fusion-8ight-se

i did have a full set of the weighted rims to throw on however, so its got a new 153g of below axle weight in the front and middle axle, the rear axle is the lightest of the group, so its off to a nice start.

Give it some time, the Fusion 8SE is still new. it will start showing up. Even Redcat doesn't have it in their replacement parts yet for their Vertex.

Yeah, those look like golf cart wheels on there. That truck needs some big chunky tires on it.

i saw a few vertex at the show hitting the trails, holy snap?!! super cool, insane flex, its completely different than the scx6, its a crawler for sure, but it wouldnt be able to pull a trailer like the 5 does, but it did outperform most of the scx6's i saw running obstacles and climbs, the 6 is a little heavier too

I'm ordering a full set of

Pro-Line Racing 1/10 MickeyThompson BajaProX G8 F/R 2.2
71V4QOckTJL._AC_SY300_SX300_QL70_FMwebp_.webp

to go on a full set of

INJORA 224g Super Heavy Brass & Aluminum Deep Dish 2.2" Beadlock Wheel Rim
71xzxC4GStL._AC_SL1500_.webp

but I'm poor and that full set with the brass for just the front is gonna run over 500 bucks lol. and thats not getting the clear body or motor lol. thing became a $$ pit immediately lol so I'm gonna just order 1 at a time and store them untill i secure the full set so I'm only having to do the work once, alledgedly lol.

May want to make sure those tires will work with those rims (ask me how I know 🤣)

Prolines don’t play well with some of those, I got a different set of injora rims and those exact tires and they will not mount up.

And if you haven’t ordered tires yet I got a set of 4 that have never been used

well theres this weeks spendin money lol, SO quick to burn fml...
decided to split the purchases up instead of just ordering one big package, losing on s&h but xcant be dead broke all week
next week will be the 4 rear portal covers

rims should be in tomorrow but ill be out of town till monday ugh.....

the truck is really cool, but suffers in some areas, some i can fix some i just have to deal with i believe.
sidehill? no thanks... it rolls so easily, albeit its doing this in stock form so expectations are tempered.
i think some brass down low willl help somewhat, but i think its always going to fail in this aspect.
when crossing an apex the front leaves the ground as the back 4 dig in, now i can't steer and often just flip on over or fall to the side.
some brass on the front should help pull that front end down some, but i dont want a seasaw effect, so i gotta figure that out.
I'm not sure shocks will help with the bed roll. i do want to keeo the flatbed and have a winch to install near the cab. the stock motor does ok, but I'm watching the hobbywing site waiting for the SE to be released again, should be this or next week. this will help a lot with having the power to push and pull its way up.
need to replace the shock oil in the rear 4 shocks with thicker oil i believe.
when i just turn on flat land even the entire bed rolls then whatever i have on the bed pulls it the rest of the way over and I'm on my side,
I'm really thinking about taking the raw500 out of the ryft and throwing it in the 6x6.... i dunno ill flip a coing to decide on that later. its an option

got the ssd rims in today, woo easy peasy lemme tell you, their a little different than I'm used to. the ring is plastic and has notches that the rim slips onto keeping it in place.
20251025_121214.webp

the tires went on without a hitch other than one entire side. i mounted them i the wrong direction so had to redo 3 wheelsand flip them around.
my worries came true. these chonky boys want to rub a little. I'm hoping that running them for a bit will slim em down a bit,
20251025_130834.webp

the truck LOOKS meaner, but ill have to wait a few days before i can run it to see if its made it more capable.
after the brass comes in and gets installed i think it will help a LOT

so i drove it around a little, the tires rub a LOT, gotta figure something out, may have to swap tires out, the 2.2's on the wraith fit with no rubbing... i may have to run a seperate set in the back,
