Early July 2024 RC Updates

How's it going everyone? I know i'm posting this at 2 at night but i couldn't stop thinking about what has went down yesterday and tonight. Yesterday i finally bought a car i have been wanting for almost 3 years now an Arrma Felony 6s BLX in Orange. I got mine as a roller\slider off eBay from the same shop i got my XO-1 and my Slash 4x4 Ultimate from called Cash4RC i also bought the stock orange body they also had for sale separately came about to almost $522 with tax. I originally was going to get a clear body like the stock one or get the C8 Corvette body from Protoform (Pro-Line) but chose the stock orange one since it was about the same price as a clear C8 or stock body but came with all the hood accessories. But since my Felony who i will name Ariana\Aria my #2 favorite Pokegirl from the Pokemon Franchise just my XO-1 who i called Serena is a roller i will need all the electronics as well as rear tires to get going.

As for the thing that's been keeping me up tonight.

I have been debating on pulling the Castle Mamba Monster X 8s\1717 1,650kv combo out of my XO-1 to put into my new Felony. So this means Serena will be a rolling chassis again for awhile until i can come up with a replacement plan. I thought of buying a stock XO-1 esc and motor combo if i can find one on eBay for a good deal along with a TQI radio with Bluetooth module or buy either a new Castle Cobra 8 esc and pair it to another 1717 1,650kv motor or buy another Castle MMX8s\1717 combo for my new Felony and keep my XO-1 the way it is.

Either way is expensive, But i need some help deciding what i should do. Revert my XO-1 back to mostly stock, Put a newer esc but same new motor or just buy a new combo for my new project.

But other than that everything has been going great. Cheers guys.

Leave your XO1 as it is and get the MMX8S with 1717 1650kv for your Felony. If you don’t you’d just be wishing you did. That’s my vote. And yes it’s expensive, but not as expensive as buying a new combo twice for your XO1 after the stock electronics get fried. I haven’t heard great things about the stock XO1 electronics, although I have no personal experience with them.

Agreed, and definitely do not buy Traxxas electronics. If I was going to use any sort of stock electronics because they are cheaper than Castle Id probably go with a Spektrum ESC. Not that I dont have gripes with Spektrum electronics but I like them better than other stock electronic brands out there.

Also, You could look for used electronics on RCTech. I've bought many a used ESCs and motors off of that site. Or ideally this site but RCTech has a much bigger user base.

And also i pulled the MMX8s combo out of my car for my new Arrma Felony i just got in this Tuesday and i love my new car so much i decided to move everything over to that car including the Serena nameplate.

Also the ESC and Receiver have proprietary programming but can be disabled if you have unlocked it first and have a Castle link USB programmer. And also i pulled the MMX8s combo out of my car for my new Arrma Felony i just got in this Tuesday and i love my new car so much i decided to move everything over to that car including the Serena nameplate.

I do love mine so far i got to drive it yesterday for a short amount of time since i didn't have my batteries fully charged and i still don't have the right tires for it. As we all know the Felony uses wider and taller rear tires verses the front which is what is used on both the Infraction and Limitless.

Here's mine so far, As you can tell i put the Twin Turbo hood accessories on her with the hoses and front splitter Intercooler i always wanted to do the turbo setup if i ever got this car although they didn't include my stickers with my body when i bought the body along with my slider\roller from eBay.

Then an underbody shot.

Good stuff. I still have the stock electronics in mine. A lot of times I just run the stock stuff until it blows up unless theres something specific I want to do to it. Eventually Ill put a Castle MMX and 1515 motor in it or something along those lines anyway.

I used to buy a lot of my cars as rtr's for a long time until i bought my XO-1 as a slider\roller since i didn't like the stock electronics that came in it originally. As you may already know i bought my Felony as a roller\slider since i already had all the electronics (MMX8s\1717 combo, Amazon servo and a radiolink RX) for it i took from my XO-1 and just needed a body and a set of hoons for it. Although i part of me wishes i just waited until next month and bought my new Felony as an rtr as mine was the latest model with the V2 esc (Firma 150 Black Edition), the newer receiver (SR6200A) and the new S665 Spektrum servo with 25 tooth servo horn.

So how's everybody doing on this forum? Start of another week and hopefully in the next week and a half i can actually get some more stuff done like buying the tires i need for my new Felony as well as some other stuff. But last week i made a pretty controversial post about that new Spektrum iXSR radio which i'm now interested in getting and i mentioned how my RC8X will be sold off soon to help pay for what will be the highest end transmitter i ever bought in my life so far. As well as my swap to Spektrum to replace my defective radiolink and maybe my futaba someday if i like my new radio enough. And to clear a few things up, .1 i know i can get a cheaper transmitter but i've already been there done that not going fall for the same trap twice and i always wanted a radio like the DX6R mainly for it's android interface, ease of use and features. which is why i had big hopes for the RC8X but failed long term and the reason i'll be selling it and moving on to Spektrum moving forward .2 i also have been wanting to try out Spektrum's telemetry on their esc's i have one in my Outcast 8s as well as try some of their batteries and chargers someday. And finally .3 this new transmitter purchase won't be happening right away over the next few months i'll watching for reviews of the iXSR i'll do as much research as i can before the purchase and i'll come to an educated decision before purchasing the radio and receivers i'll need to complete my swap. Sorry for the long rant\tangent i just want to make my thoughts and motives clear if you all will understand if not that's okay. Cheers guys.
