Does anyone else make sure their electronics are up to date on the latest software?

Haven’t had any Spektrum electronics in a long time but now that I have this dbxle I wanted to make sure everything was up to date. My LCD programmer box was behind an update or two and my 160amp esc was also behind a few updates.

Prior to the update I could only turn the punch up to 5, now I can go up to 10. The motor timing is also higher than it originally was through the update in the esc. Can’t wait to run it and see how it does🤌

My 13 year old Monster 2 ESC that sits in my Slash runs off of 13 year old software. If I were a racer I would probably be more on it.
I’d recommend giving it a go. Has nothing to do with racing. It’s overall an upgrade in the smoothness and power. I’ve never raced before but I want my RCs to perform to their fullest potential.

I hadn't. Found myself with a program box that no longer would work with newer ESC's.
It definitely pays to make sure things are up to date.
I’m sure that would’ve happened to me if I had plugged mine into a newer updated esc. Fortunately enough the esc was also behind on updates. So everything still worked prior to the updates. After the updates I have more options though.

I recognize that I am on the other side if this entirely but... I would prefer an esc that requires no connectivity whatsoever. I want to plug it in and have it work.
If it worked great on day 1, no reason nor want to try and change it from there.

I have no wifi, no computer (thanks to windows 'upgrades')...
I have no intention of buying a computer and installing wifi to get the latest and greatest app updates.

For me, updates and being required to update is actually a pretty big inconvenience.

I just bought a HW esc. I am guessing between that and the LCD card, something will need updates.
I wonder how the librarian is gonna feel about me bringing my rigs in for a tune up. 🤔

How do you post on the forum?

I haven't updated or checked to be up to date on any of my electronics.

Last time I updated something was my xr10 stock spec esc in my race buggy, I updated it to the boost firmware just so I have the ability to adjust electronic timing if I were at the track and I was playing around with stuff or running in a open class.
Most of my other cars have the Quicrun series of hobbywing which has a non updateable firmware so theres that.
My mid school V2.1 hobbywing has been running the same firmware since I got it from a family member so prob has the original firmware from like 2013 on it, lol. still works fine!
I know the spektrum firma line of escs can be programmed, I have one in my typhon but I don't wanna spend 30+ bucks on a Spektrum LCD while I already have 3 different hobbywing cards so I just leave the settings and firmware on that on how it is stock, since programming via the button and watching lights blink is super confusing.

On my Flysky radio I haven't did anything to it firmware/updates wise since I got it, mostly because I need to watch a video on how to use the flysky assistant/updating app, plus it works just fine for me so I don't need any new fancy features.

Although I will say this now, for the future, I tend to not to do any firmware updates to any cheap/offbrand/no name electronics brand, as I did it before and it bricked the system basically so... yea.
