Who's the idiot at your local shop that said that savox 2209 will fail. Your using the servo saver on the X correct. Are you using stick electronics? That servo needs 8.4v the stock esc only puts out 6.0v. You will need a bec to power it. Also need a standard servo mount. What electronics do you have in your X??? You could have went with the power hobby, reefs, HI tec, or the other traxxas servo 2085X with all metal gears. It's a decent servo. So what you got going on with esc??
Or that the servo dies because you drive on grass
Dam idiots

In highly doubt it has anything to do with driving in grass 😂😂. Mine lives exclusively in grass pretty much. I've seen a few posts on Facebook about the receiver and/or the esc causing servos to burn up. Not sure the validity to that. My primary xmaxx still has stock servo and electronics. But from what I understand, voltage spikes will kill a servo.

Double check all your steering components and servo saver. Servo saver could be too tight.

I'm on my third 2085X and yes stock servo saver and electronics, 2 month old 8s model,,everything feels free and smooth..when I ordered the 2290 one was listed hi voltage, one was not ,,so ordered not ,lol, yeah wonder about this shop owner?

He's a idiot!!! Wow 2 months old. something isn't rite if your on your 3rd 2085X why didn't he say somethingafter the second one??. whats happening to it?? Does it fry strip what? did you upgrade the spring with that servo? To the stiffer one?? You still have all stock electronics. And the Xmaxx is 8s doesn't come any other bud. Only other is the maxx that you can upgrade to 8s. Buy its no where one to the size of the X

Now ,,i did replace spring on servo saver with the traxxas upgrsde and tightened it up good ,,no idea it could be too tight ,?could it really be that easy?HMMMM

Yes it could be that easy they shouldn't be really tight. Your burning your own servo up bud sorry to tell you

Take off the belcrank brace and loosen that screw on the servo saver. It's good to periodically check the screw because it can back off sometimes.

Will do,Putting her on the bench now ,thanks again

Ok looking under or thru the spring on saver is there a gap left between cap V and post V slot when tightened,, how big of gap or close pieces scew compesses?

That new stiffer spring and stronger servo. You can probably tighten it up but not locked tight. The tighter = more response. Just check it by hand. Before putting modular back together. Use the linkage to turn your tires make sure nothing is binding.

The stock servos are junk and are prone to breaking easily although it sounds like you may be helping them along. The 2290 is ok and it will work but for less than $10 more you can get the black edition 2290 and its got almost twice as much torque. Its a high voltage servo though so if you went this route youd want to pick up a Castle 10A BEC in order to give the servo its proper voltage.

SW2290SG-BE - Waterproof Monster Torque High Voltage, Brushless, Digital Servo 0.11sec / 972.1oz @ 8.4v - Black Edition

If that servo 👆 doesn't work then nothing would lol

There shouldn't be a gap. The "V" allows the flex/slip in the saver and then centers it. What I've done on mine is hold the servo horn and move the wheel too see how much force is needed to flex the servo saver. This may not be the correct way to do it, but that's what I've been doing lol.

Agreed!LMAO

No kidding ,,got into it and I had it practically locked,,thanks to you ,feels right now , oops ,,hopefully I'm back to enjoying my grass,LOL

It's the way I've been maken sure my steering isn't binding or to tight for yrs. It's really not about a measurement more about feeling in my opinon.👍👍

Hopefully you won't have anymore issues bud. And can leave some nice ruts in the grass from now on 👍👍
