I use cutting mats. Easy to clean.

Great. Something else I don't need but gotta have. Way to go. My wish list is building up again. That white contrasting with everything would be right up my alley. I'm currently in small corner in living room using typical yoga mat.

One of these years I'll move all my stuff downstairs to the man cave/garage.

You wont regret it, they are awesome! I've had mine for about 13 years now. Although I havent used it in the last 3 or 4 years. I redid my hobby desk at one point and I just never went back to using it. So nice for not losing screws :)

I’m using a piece of 1/8” sheet metal that I primed and painted black. It scratches pretty easy but was cost effective (I work for an hvac contractor and stole it from the sheet metal shop) and highly durable. It provides a great XL flat and even surface for my 1/8 setup station. Do recommend. I wish I would’ve gone with a bit more durable paint though.

I use those on top of my pit mat. Especially if I'm soldering or working on something dirty. And @Xraycer - keep your mind out of the gutter 😜

Might as well ask a chicken not to cluck! :hehe:

Closet K-car fanboy here! Nice! 🤩🤘🍻

The one I have is silicone, so no worries with melting from solder drips or a dropped iron. It has lots of molded bins along the edge as well as a few embedded magnets to hold on to ferrous hardware.

I use that same mat, and it's almost indestructible. Glue, grease, solder almost nothing sticks to it. I would stay away from using silicon based products on it though. I use the pockets all the time, it's just grippy enough and small enough to remove it when it's in the way. If there was a larger one I would get that.

That sits on top of a giant piece of cardboard (free). Not a great shot but you can see it in the background.
