I feel like the maxx would just be more fun with the monster truck geometry

I’d personally go with the rustler just because I’m more handling performance based
I feel like nostalgia is playing a bit of a role here. I had the old Rustler over 20 years ago and it was really fun. Now to see it all modern and beefed up with brushless, four-wheel-drive, and all these aluminum upgrades makes me excited.

And my son has stressed that he wants us to get different vehicles. So if he gets a Maxx then I probably won’t. But they both look like there’s tons of fun to be had. And I need to find out what his little buddies are driving for RC’s.

All these opinions and suggestions are great. Keep them coming. I have a quiet day at work today so this is keeping me going.

Also , which one would you guys pick if you had to pick one : Rustler 4x4 Ultimate or Maxx 2.0?
The Maxx is more versatile, especially on grass or rough terrain. However, it is a high COG monster truck, so somewhat clumsy compared to the much lower, lighter and faster Rustler. Totally different classes of rc. The Maxx will go pretty much anywhere, but on smooth terrain, the Rustler is crazy fast, 70mph is relatively easy to achieve.

You have confirmed my suspicions. And it seems like at the end of the day, they’re both pretty awesome.

The stampede 4 x 4 looks pretty cool too as does the Hoss. Is there a big difference between these two?

And I still need to check out the Rival.

Actually the size is quite a bit different too between the Maxx and Rustler. Even though both are called 1/10 scale, the Rustler is a traditional 1/10, the Maxx is rather large for 1/10 I feel. The Stampede is more true to scale than the Maxx, a good bit smaller is the Stampede.
Scale is variable.. Take the E revo 2.0 for example, Traxxas calls it 1/10, but it is literally the size of most any 1/8 scale truggy. Though, it does use some rather minimally sized components, such as 3mm hinge pins instead of the traditional 4mm. Pivot balls for the hub carriers are rather small compared to a 1/8 truggy as well. They seam to hold up, so not putting the E Revo down, but if we look at say an Arrma Kraton pivot ball compared to E Revo, wow! SBS, small balls syndrome, LOL.

And I still need to check out the Rival.
Not to add to your to do list but like @Suburban_Hooligan mentioned it might be a good idea to check out the HPI Savage X Flux. The savage is a pretty legendary basher with good long term parts support.

Just another truck to drool over lol

No, the new Stampede is the Hoss. Originally Traxxas made the Stampede, which has been around for decades, tried and true. Then Traxxas introduced the Hoss, which has some more modern designed parts.. well, guess the Hoss didn't really catch on, so, back with the Stampede name, but it's pretty much the exact same truck.

I never owned a Savage, but am familiar with it's legendary status. I chose the MT4 from TT back when, no regerts, the MT4 was a legend in it's time too.. until TT pulled the plug that is.. RIP. Still have it, still run it, though nowadays it's an ST4. Lives an easier life with smaller tires and parts are hard to come by for it.
But the HPI of today is not the HPI of glory days.. sure it is built in the same fashion, but HRP is their US distributer, and parts can be hard to get, out of stock is a common theme I hear. Plus, that chassis design can be a real PIA to work on with everything packed in tightly by the side chassis plates.
Not dismissing by any means, many love it, but they sure didn't gain much traction in the market since they returned a few years ago.

Ah , that helps clear things up. I was wondering why the Hoss wasn’t on the Traxxas website. The Stampede looks good and appears to be popular. It’s been around a while. I remember the old version way back when.

HPI Savage Flux , noted. Never heard of it but I bet my pal Google has.

Tower hobbies has the ET48 2.0 and they have you select things like wheels and tires , electronics and batteries. Pretty cool.View attachment 202781
They’re out of stock as a new/amended/updated truggy is being released by Tekno..

It’ll get fairly expensive buying new btw..and personally I wouldn’t buy anything from Tower… Far better deals out there, and much better customer service as well. Don’t even get me started on shipping lol..

see I like the idea buying used but then again half the fun is building the car lol
Been doing it over 35yrs, and often find that REbuilds are just as fun, if not more so… and the money saved…. Shiiiiiiiiiiiit man… Because I’m gonna dump all kinds of aftermarket/more factory parts into any NEW kit too…🤷🏻‍♂️

I’ve been looking on Amain , RC Super Store and Hobby Town. Though I haven’t looked at shipping costs. I should probably do that soon.

Why not babe? I love that 15% discount and free shipping. Also only live 3 hours from the Champaign warehouse so I get most stuff next day

I don’t support Horizon/Tower for a multitude of reasons… it’s literally never NOT been some straight up bullshiit with EVERY transaction with them since the merge… And HERE in NC-they take absolutely foreverrrrrrrrrr to get me my stuff..

I deal with a very specific few vendors/sites, and then Amain only if everyone ELSE is out of something, or for tires. They’re tough to boycott when it comes to tires/wheels… I was a platinum member with them for YEARS, and I bet I don’t spend a TENTH of what I used to there any longer..

I stick to:

Fierce RC Solutions
Beach RC
RC1-Racing
Absolute Hobbyz
Woodland Hobbies
Bones Motorsports
NitroPro
DialedRC
JennysRC
LiquidRC
RCWaffle

Couldn’t be happier with pricing, availability, customer service, shipping, OR sales… And half of them don’t add sales tax… That’s a HUGE deal to me..🇺🇸
