Installed the most expensive single shock I ever bought. Sure is Purdy tho! Can’t wait to get the baby bike (Honda Grom) out of the basement and give it whirl.

Surprisingly affordable considering what you get. $600 RTR from fearless RC. I have confidence in the car. Time will tell though, may end up being a big fat stinky turd like the internet told me it would be. Can’t see how it can be though… this is every bit as well built as any other RC I’ve ever bought except for the engine. It’s kind of caca. But I’ll be happy if it even runs considering the price I paid for a 1/5 scale ‍

If anything it got the dopamine flowing and I don’t want anything other than 1/5 scales now. I see a Kraken Vekta 5 and a lot of my 1/10 and 1/8 scale RC’s for sale in my future.

Thanks brothaman! I used the oven cleaner method this go ‘round. I DID indeed like what I saw in your posts, so I did my due diligence, and looked into the science of it all. I found that both drain cleaner, and oven cleaner contains the same chemical that reacts with the anodize. What I found was that the oven cleaner contains LESS, and I’m a big fan of “sneaking up on it”, if there’s a possibility of ruining my part/work.. This engine mount is made of non-existium, & is irreplaceable, and those standoffs have about 3 days worth of manual labor into them, so I went with EZ-Off.

After 45min of patiently chilling in the other room, I went in to check the progress. Hit it with a soft bristle old toothbrush, rinsed in warm water, then a quick Dawn bath, and dried off. Tremendous. I’m very happy. I hit the mount with a green 3M Scotch-Brite very sparingly, and shot the “after” photo shown in my post.

The (3) stand-off’s in the center got no chemicals-only 240grit garnet Emory cloth, and green 3M Scotch-Brite.. They had a texture, and I seriously figured they were a cheap powder coat.. 1hr, and 10 burned digits later, is the result shown..

I went back to the site I purchased them from to verify my conclusion; indeed anodized.. I did the same EZ-Off method I used on the mount, on the other (6) standoff’s, and again-the result is shown above..

This is just the de-ano method I used, and I’m not finished with the above parts. I’ll scuff, and Iso, then finish the job. Hopefully the results are as good as the de-ano was..

I actually was going to. I need them to match the bronzes/golds on the mini-truggies, but I’ve decided against paint now, and will be sending them off for treatment.. I can’t have the dimensions of the parts change to the degree of painted parts unfortunately. Sucks-I have the colors here, and it would take less time too… More waiting… oh well.. Looks like the “featured thread” was pretty much a waste…
