I got a small "taste" of that last month. They took a golf ball sized chunk of cancer out of my tongue in early May. I didn't eat much for the first week or two. That's why I've been on such a food bender since.
I agree with @Xraycer , get a second/third/fourth opinion. Find better doctors. My wife had complications with delivery of our kids. We spent 10 years trying to get doctors to take her health problems seriously. The difference there was they kept wanting her to take more pills- and the pills never helped. We finally found one good doctor who listened and tried what we suggested, and it worked.
So don't stop pushing them for solutions!
I saw 3 different specialists in 5 years and got to rule out a lot of possibilities. I fully expected the issue to be some type of cancer considering how well I've taken care of myself. It boils down to having what is called a spastic colon and there's no "cure". I sometimes have a hard time explaining to people that it's not like an injury that can be fixed. had some muscle relaxers for a shoulder injury a few years ago and the pills worked on my digestive system also. Any type of painkillers do the same thing but I'll be damned if I'll take those and get hooked...again. No way.
Have you try making it down to Boston for your medical issues. Being in the medical field, I can absolutely tell you that doctors are not created equal. You have your mediocre, your genius' , and your hacks.
Being in the field I'm sure you know this one>>>I couldn't even get a referral due to not having adequate insurance. At my age this interesting thing happens at the doctor's also. I fall into the invisible category that exists above age 50 and it gets compounded by the tattooed thing believe it or not. I've tried being clear that I'm not there for pills but one look at me and their convinced I'm lying.

Just had marinated steak tips, a little while ago, that I picked up on sale at half price($7/lb) this morning. Delicious! I think it also just tasted that much better because it was half price. Corn was just ok. Our yummy local corn has another month before they're ready.
Dessert was Friendly's super stuffed peanut butter and brownies. My new favorite Friendly's flavor!

As much as I really want to go out and have a big fat double bacon cheese burger, I can't. :(
The veggies are keeping me alive I guess.
I get it, you have way more will power than I do!

More pulled pork... 2 days in the hot tub at 150 with salt and pepper.

Whiskey, peach, and honey glaze tonight

I added some convection roasted veg for @Tunedpipe (Brussels, onions, garlic w/avo oil spray and Malden flake salt), and a separate tray of shrooms (oysters and shaggy parasols- which caramelized to an utterly delightful sweet crunchiness!)

And I stacked it all onto kings Hawaiian rolls.

The delicate, slightly sweet crunch of the parasols, the deeper crunch of the garlic, the savory slipperiness of the onions, the slightly chewy earthiness of the oysters, the salty goodness of the Brussels, the tang of the peach and honey, and the smoke of the whiskey on the fall-apart pork....

I take back what I said last weekend. THIS is the best pulled pork I've ever tried. ❤️
