Hello there this is my first post but not my last!

I recently got into the nitro sceen, i borrowed a Traxxas nitro stampede off my m8 hu had had it 4 a gd few years n it needed a bit of TLC. Ne way i stripped it down got it goin n luved it!! (untill a m8 smashed it in2 a wall full pelt n broke the engine mounts!lol)

I am now lookin for one of my own but I'm am undecided of what 2 get. First i looked at the Savage X but then my LHC suggested Traxxas due to the easy avaliblity of parts. iv looked around but i hav no idea.

I'm goin 2 be giving it a bit of a bashing so summit strong, ill want 2 b upgrading it doin all the lil mods n stuff so.. like i sed i duno just want sum opinions and suggestions really.

Ne way Cheers:worship:

Savage, X or otherwise, is still one of the best "bashers" out there. There is little that can stand up to its reliability and ability to survive a crash. Having said that, parts availability is a BIG plus if/when you do break something. If you can get parts just as easily for one over the other then I would stay with the Savage.

Also might want to check into This

Yeah i kind of have my heart set on the Savage X, worst comes to worst i can always get parts of the internet.

Cheeky, I can spell thank you very much, I just choose not too.lol

Thanks for the help any more suggestions would be much appreciated.

No prob man, I've been a Savage fan since they came out (I have 1 and enough parts to build another) so I'm a little biased.

It's a good idea to buy an rc that your LHS has parts for, if they carry Traxxas look at the Revo...You won't regret it!

I'm also looking for a new nitro car for bashing, I too have my eyes on the Savage X, would get the SS but I'm not all that confident on the building and the choosing of the Tx etc. Rather a RTR until my budget allows me to spend more. I did look at the Revo but saw that was more suited for races so I passed that one off.

Also, Savage's are VERY popular so parts will be easy to come by, at any LHS i would say.

If traxxas parts are more available to you locally, then go with a revo 3.3. It's a fairly decent rig out of the box. With a few upgrades, it's a formidable basher as well.

Yeh thats true. I think I'm going to go for the Savage X. I've heard people say that the Traxxas's are real money pits.

Any way Jamie, why would you go for the Savage X SS?? Whats the difference??

I wouldn't say the Revo is a money pit. I've owned a few of each truck in my day, and if your LHS has parts for the Revo, thats really the way to go. Both trucks are great, the Revo having the edge in handling the savage in durability. I've never really broken much on either truck. I would say the Revo is the better all around truck, but the Savage is for the person who wants to run crap over and run into stuff and not worry about it haha.

The X is the RTR model, and the X SS is the kit. The kit comes with a bigger engine, some racier tires, some HD drivetrain stuff, a better exhaust and a few other things, but does not come with a radio.

I see! Cheers

I would really like to try and build my own, but as its my first i think ill go with the RTR, take that appart and build it back up a few times (which I'm sure i will be doing quite alot!lol) before i try to build it from scratch.

Would you say its hard to build one? Iv taken a the Stampede apart a few times that wasn't to hard.

They aren't too hard to build no. It just takes some time and patience. These kits usually come with great instructions on how to build them, and I know for a fact the savage is one of those cases. You will also need to get your own radio and servos, but everything else is included.

Building a kit is the best way to learn about these cars but sometimes its just easier and cheaper to get a RTR. Both are great trucks.

getting parts off internet is nice if you dont mind not haveing a car for a few days while parts are in the mail. if your lhs carry traxxas more then hpi go with traxxas. there is nothing worst then sun shinning, birds singing, and you sitting there waiting for parts in the mail.
