CPSC:
"WASHINGTON, D.C. – The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is warning consumers to immediately stop using HTRC C240 battery chargers manufactured by Shenzhen Haitan Technology Co. Ltd. because they pose a risk of serious injury and death.
The defective chargers are sold for charging lithium-ion batteries. The chargers can ignite or cause a connected battery to ignite. CPSC has received 32 reports of fire or other thermal incidents involving the HTRC C240 chargers, including five reports of significant property damage and one report of injury. Consumers should immediately dispose of these products.

Shenzhen Haitan Technology Co. Ltd. d/b/a HTRC, of China, has been unresponsive to CPSC requests for information about this product or a recall. CPSC is also aware of 148 reports of fire or other thermal incidents involving other HTRC products. Consumers should consider these reports, the lack of information about compliance with voluntary safety standards, and the company’s failure to provide safety information about their products to CPSC when deciding whether to buy or use the company’s products.

The defective chargers are black with two blue screens, numbered 1 and 2, and the model identifier “C240 DUO” printed between the screens. The brand name “HTRC” is printed at the bottom left corner. The chargers have been sold on AliExpress.com, Amazon.com, Banggood.com, eBay.com, HTRC-Direct.com and RCGoing.com from December 2017 to the present for between $67 and $288.

Report a hazardous product or a product-related injury on www.SaferProducts.gov.
Individual Commissioners may have statements related to this topic. Please visit www.cpsc.gov/Commissioners to search for statements related to this or other topics.

After seeing this, it makes me wonder if I should report my old radio. Because yes, my old radio (RadioLink RC8X) was unsafe and they had still yet to fix their faults, been over a year now. Should I report it? I know atleast 50% of those radios that were produced had those issues if they were updated in firmware.

And Amazon is still selling them. I just contacted Amazon support and filled them in about the CPSC warning. The guy said he will send it up the food chain. Let's see how long it takes them to pull the product...

I saw posts on Facebook of guys getting refunds from Amazon for them.

Yea, I received the same message the other day. I bought 2 of these when I first got into the Hobby. Worked great and never had any issues. Bought 2 name brand/more expensive ones 2 years ago and haven't used the recalled ones for a while.

I guess they go on ebay now......O....I mean go in the trash now. 🤣

At least Amazon is going to reimburse for these.

Amazon had 4 of these HTRC C240 chargers left the other day, and now it looks like they just refilled their inventory, because it no longer says how many they have in stock. They don't care about burning houses down as long as they're making money.

Sounds like Radiolink. They don't care if the signal drop outs crashes your car, damages your car, someones property, or injure someone.
Feel good that I just reported it. The rc8x issues I'm sure isn't as huge/popular like this charger risk.
But which is more concerning. Your house burning down, or injuring someone or something. Both are concerning.
Double oof if someone used both of these products.

This is the first I am hearing of this.

-edit- Kind of glad I never bought one.

There is a reason that so many products are sold on these sites. They rarely have any approval from FCC, UL , etc. They are priced less because the manufacturer refuses to spend the money to test the product for compliance with federal regulations.

Amazon, etc, say "not our responsibility to see if products we sell have been tested, we just connect the seller to the buyer"

I recommend that everyone signs up for emails from CPSC so you get notified the day, or day after, a recall notice is published

https://www.cpsc.gov/Recalls

Also, be aware, that when YOU buy through these sites and the product is from anywhere outside of U.S.A., that YOU LEGALLY BECOME THE IMPORTER and YOU are liable to lawsuits, fines from various federal agencies when something goes wrong.

The chargers have been sold on AliExpress.com, Amazon.com, Banggood.com, eBay.com, HTRC-Direct.com and RCGoing.com from December 2017 to the present

Reached out to Amazon twice now via live chat. No action taken. So I reached out with a tweet (or whatever X calls posts now) to Amazon help and they replied wanting me to contact them via private massage. SURE YOU DO! I bet they do want me to keep it private. If any of you have an X account, go reply to them.
