I know I already have some car projects but I've been watching alot of videos on YouTube with planes. Especially Jay Kujan he is a really cool dude and overall just want to try something new when I'm away from the track bc with the car aspect it seems I'm bashing/free style less and less these days and only really enjoy track stuff

Narrowed it down to 2 planes
Horizon Hobbyzone Cub S 1.3m RTF
FMS Ranger V2 1220m with reflex v3 RTF

I'll be mostly in the fields across the street which is basically all grass and no smooth runways

Pros and cons of both
Hobbyzone has big tires for landings. Imo comes with a better quality spektrum DXS remote and has SAFE/gyros. Doesn't come with battery and charger and is 100 bucks more, esc has a IC3/EC3 on it which is not really ideal with the plugs I use, I know I could switch it out but... Lol.
FMS comes with battery and charger, 100 bucks less reflex gyro system. Comes with battery and charger and easy to remove wings. Front landing is a spring so it can absorb some hard landings. Esc has a xt60 which fits my collection.

I already have a charger but would be nice to have a battery since I don't have that small of mah packs yet. But I already know I'll probably grab 2 or 3 packs for cheap off of CNHLs site.

Was looking at more inexpensive micro planes and some EDFs but some of them are super small, might be harder to control (educated guess). One I was looking at was the Hobbyzone P51 450mm. Looks nice and cool but it uses 1s 400mah sized packs. Would ideally want 2-4s

Getting to air is a long shot and probably long ways to come but it's just an idea I had.

What you think?

I'm glad I started out with a 1.1m foam bush plane. 1.3m might be even better. They fly normally as well as slowly, they absorb all bumps and they can take a lot🙂
I'd go to an RC airplane club or event and ask around before buying the first plane. They might even sell you their own beginner plane. Guys at my flying club have such a bush plane for newbies that you can test fly for free.

For a beginner, spend the extra $100 and get the Carbon Cub. Just look at how beefier it is than that FMS. Translation: much, much more durable. Also, you'll want landing gears set up with the 2 wheels up front. Much more forgiving for landings.
I have a similar FMS plane and it works fine for a more advance pilot, but it spent a lot of time under repair with me as the pilot. Its just not built beefy enough.

The Carbon Cub is going to be a little sturdier than the FMS. For your first plane I wouldn't recommend the tricycle landing gear on the FMS. The Carbo Cub is a great flyer.
