I broke out some old micro-helis today and took advantage of the calm winds.

I flew four batteries each through my E-Flite Nano S3 and my XK K110S. I also flew my Goosky S1 this week.

I was a proficient fixed-wing RC flyer but haven't flown in years. I need to get back on my horse and learn to fly the little helis. I can hover in all orientations on the Heli-X sim but it doesn't seem to carry over to the real world that well yet. So, I did a lot of tail-in hovering and moving around the back yard.

I hope to be sport flying by the end of the summer... 🚁

Sudden change in wind direction and unfortunately placed telephone poles and fences aren't modeled into the simulator? 😁

The sensation of having the wind blow the heli toward your face is just so much more intense in the real world. I put some googly eyes on my K110S but it still looks threatening when it's coming for your eyes or throat... 😄

I love these Goosky S1 helis. I wish I had bought the S2 though, because the little ones get too small too quickly. I added some matching color Monocote to the tail booms to help make them at least a little bit more visible.

That k110s was the helicopter that convinced me I am not a helicopter pilot...at all.

It can be a little bit wild out of the box but some reading on heli forums provided a set of really beginner-friendly settings for the excellent X6 programmable transmitter that came in the RTF kit. This Tx is way more capable than the average RTF toy-like unit. With the very mild settings, I can confidently fly it in my living room. Not so, originally. Were you using the X6 transmitter from the RTF kit?

Outside, over grass, the K110S is pretty darn crash-resistant. It is about half the weight of the Goosky S1 (59g vs.110g). The S1 has a quality feel that is on a whole different level than the K100S, but the heavier weight makes it hit much harder in a crash. On the flip side, I guess the lighter weight also makes the K110S more susceptible to being blown around by the wind. It's a calm day heli, for sure.

Edit to add: I just edited the emoticon in the post. I didn't realize it was giving the finger! I didn't mean to direct that at anyone!
