Good morning to all-
Now, Fellers, I have flown my little rc planes in the company of a wide range of birds in the past- never any problems have I had.
And this morning early, I was again spending my non-productive time down at the flying field with one of my Eflite umx Waco biplanes just tootling around doing some basic aerobatics. Very nice it was.
And then almost before it could register with me, my little biplane was joined in flight by a very large bird which was flying close formation with it. Fellers, I am something of an amateur ornithologist, and I am pretty good at bird ID, but this was surely the easiest bird identification I've ever been called upon to do. An adult bald eagle was flying in perfect wing-man formation with my little plane, and the bird kept its position all the way across the flying field. It made no movement toward my plane and it surely did not spook away in fright. Just stayed in formation until we reached the far side of the field. The eagle went left and I went right .
I flew the little biplane back to the landing road, and I watched the departing eagle until it disappeared behind the trees away east of the field.
Fellers, I was honored to have the privilege of flying with such a creature.
you all be safe and keep well- Ed
